Hi

My phone was working perfectly fine today and then all of a sudden I got a message

Phone Not Allowed

Emergency Calls Only

Now I can't make or receive calls. I restarted the phone. I removed the SIM. Then I did a Network Settings Reset. Still not working.

Have anyone else had that problem before?

That's the message

I haven't tried another SIM yet. Will now.

I bought it from Vodacom last year October. Been working all the time.
Interesting. I think usually it only happens if a carrier locks a phone to that network only or you try to root. I might be wrong. I would start with another Vodacom sim and see if it makes a difference....

Tried a different SIM. Still not working.

I put my SIM in another phone and the problem is not with the SIM.

Are you sure it was your phone earlier today?

j/k

A friend of mine at MTN is going to check tomorrow if my phone has been blacklisted.

If it was, then I would love to know who did it. Only two people has the IMEI number, me and the girl who sold it to me that works at the Vodacom Store.

It was her unwanted upgrade last year.

If it was her, then it might just be for an insurance claim which will be considered to be fraud.

If it was done by mistake, then it must be rectified tomorrow or all hell is going to break loose.

I heard its not a very easy process to get a phone "un-blacklisted".

If all else fail, I'll contact my insurance and get myself a nice new Note 9.

"unwanted upgrades" still belong to the network for the 2 years of the upgraded contract. Pretty sure it's against T&C to sell them on.

So she sold her contract phone and defaulted on contract, now network has blacklisted device.

^^ This is why my first questions was , where did you get the phone. So it wasn't Vodacom who sold it, it was an employee who works at Vodacom. Your phone is blacklisted.
