im taking a different approach, i dont want to even know the phone exists until i have my protector and cover on, im that unlucky guy that just got a new phone and a bird flys it out of your hand and onto an italian cobblestone road for a instant K.O so im not taking any chances

Lol! Don't blame you. With this phones proportions it also makes it easier to drop.

Yes, I keep it on 24/7.
Mine I have scheduled, this was my stats. Actually took a screenshot because I am impressed with the battery life.

This is the 3rd longest lasting phone I've owned.

I would say it's some app/ process running in background (system or 3rd party) that responsible for it.
eg. could be an app that's badly coded, etc.
If you reboot it may help a bit, but issue most probably will return.
Most probably the result will be that it causes excessive battery drain in the long run .?
Best way to pinpoint issues like this, is with apps like eg GSam battery, Wakelock detector or BetterbatteryStats.
No root required to install these apps, just a bit of simple ADB commands.
You can check your deepsleep, awake
and what app draining battery. etc
Take a look at screenshots, it will give you a better idea of what you can look for to find culprit.

Is anyone using a car phone mount with their Note 8? If so, which one are you using, and are you happy with it.
