Galaxy Note 8

Good to hear you seem happier now!
You don't have to enable CRC32, it's basically only to check if your "file/firmware" downloaded correctly.
I enable it now, as i know when i download, It checks CRC32, if firmware downloaded correctly. ( not missing files and thus corrupt, and you soft bricking device )

However the "decrypt automatically" is important as if you don't enable /tick it, you
sit with a wasted encrypted download and with no way of decrypting the downloaded firmware.!
Anyway glad you sorted matter out.!

Thanks for the help.

Now I just have to wait and see if the next OTA comes through.

Well at least you're up to date with your firmware.!
Further, no more Sammobile etc.!
Just fired up Samfirm and download your correct firmware.
The download speeds is much better with Samfirm .!
Good luck

Wtf is a this?

VD2/VD2/XFV
b874928f6413c63ce166258383fd6186.jpg

i was on XFV ORIGINALLY (VODACOM)
Got a "bee" in my "bonnet "
I flashed a French firmware XEF
eg i had XEF/XEF/XFV
It worthwhile to note that 3rd code CSC is hardcore. You cannot change it.

Then i did not have volte etc and i wanted to return to XFV Firmware.
I tried flashing XFE firmware (factory reset etc) (Why i don't know anyway.)
I now had CSC XFE/XFE/XFV

I then decided to flash latest Vodacom firmware
XFV, factory reset and landed back on
XFV/XFV/XFV
Started getting OTA 's again!

You know that you must flash 4 of the 5 files
In correctly designated slots in Odin.
Remember you have to factory reset.
Also if unzipping firmware
HOME _CSC_OXF your data stays intact (dirty flash)
You have to choose CSC_OXM plus the other 3 files in Odin This way you phone will be factory resetted.

Also i just checked with Samfirm and eg Vodacom latest firmware is showing.!
See screenshot. for example.
If you on MTN then just follow same as above (if you want to but with MTN Firmware.
Good luck

post note
i just remembered,
when my Samfirm software was not picking up latest Firmware updates reason was that i was using old Samfirm v0.3.1 ,instead of latest Samfirm v0.3.6
Download Samfirm from XDA '

Is this the South African Firmware that you flashed?

Does Samsung Pay work on it?

Vd2 is german vodacom. Do another factory reset and it should come right.

But then I'll have to re-install everything again?

Ok, so I went forward with Factory Reset. Still the same VD2/VD2/XFV

Samsung Pay wont work because my phone doesn't have South African Firmware installed. Thats just stupid.

So what must I try next? Flash a different SA Rom?

From what i understand with just a quick Google search on CSC VD2 .
( i quote from various sources, remarks ......)

"This is the problem with multi csc firmware.
If you do not have a Vodafone csc then the default csc is selected.
This is Germany VD2."
and

" The issue is that the vodadone firmware is multi-csc and it defaults to vd2 ..."

and

"multi CSC ( ATL AVF CNX CYV MOB MTL OMN PRO SIM SWC TCL VD2 VDC VDF VDH VDI VGR VIP VOD XFV )
by default VD2
you need a CYV sim card or to root your device , but you can stay with the default CSC because it's the same firmware."

So it seems like you and michelle are in the same "boat" regarding having flashed a German CSC VD2
Unfortunately it appears that there is no quick fix ( ?) apart from flashing latest update manually each time Regarding security patches updates .

In my case i was lucky to come back from XEF (France ) to XFE and to be able to align my CSC to XFV/XFV/XFV
If i had flashed VD2 then i would have had same issues with my CSC

Try this to change with a multi-csc

1. Launch your phone dialer and type *#272*Phone’s IMEI Here#
2. Your phone will automatically pop up a screen with some codes.*
3. They are the CSC codes
4. Select the one which you need
5. Now your phone will factory reset and restarts
6. Done. Your phone's CSC has been changed successfully.*

I get "UNKNOWN APPLICATION" when I try that.

If he had a vodacom sim card in after a factory reset it will say change to network settings you push yes phone restarts and you have xfv/xfv/xfv. The issue is piesang has a mtn sim in. Borrow a sim. I have done it a few times and it aftwr vd2/vd2/xfv it starts in german mentions sim card push yes and ot restarts in english with xfv

I am on the aug security patch. On my s9 plus. Doingnit manually. The kernel for july patch was v1. Its now v2. Once you go onto the v1 version you cant go back to any older versions at all. So i manually do my updates... With dbt

Hi Michelle

I have a Vodacom SIM here. I'll try it quickly.

Hope it works. It's going to be the third time I'm doing a Factory Reset in 24hours. Lol.

Ai, also when you start up pls choose english as language. Because when they ask about sim you wont understand the german instruction
Great. I found a Vodacom sim lying around here. Had to cut it to size first.

My phone immediately asked me to do a Factory Reset as the sim is not "Provisioned".

After the restart the welcome message was in English. While the phone was starting up, I replaced the Vodacom sim with my MTN sim.

Phone is on XFV/XFV/XFV. July patch and Samsung Pay is working.

Only drawback now is that I have a Vodacom Branded phone. Lol.

Thanks for your help michellej and corwill.
