Galaxy Note 8

Before careful of buying phones from people that is still on contract.
I bought a Sealed Note 8 from someone last year. Last week it got Blacklisted because the person defaulted on paying the contract.

Expensive paperweight I have here.
What'd your insurance say about having an unusable phone?

I changed from a Note 8 to a OnePlus 6. Better phone in every practical way, as I don't need wireless charging with the battery life of the OP6, official IP rating and I never used the stylus.

I now realise how slow the Samsung was even when I changed the developer options wrt to the animation settings in the hidden menu. I don't think I'll be able to go back to any Note just because of any Samsung being overpriced, slow, poor software support, poor battery life etc. Even with the Note 9's larger battery, all the other cons still make it unattractive.

I actually sold my Note 8 with wireless charger for a little more than I bought the OP6. So if anyone is a true phone enthusiast, consider getting a Chinese phone like a OP6. My previous phones were Note 3, S6, Note 8.

The Note 8 is an impressive phone. For those of us that doesnt have ridiculous contracts its very neat. I bought mine for 8k a while ago. Dont pay any contracts and it lives on wifi. In matter of fact I use wifi at home and wifi at work so dont even bother with databundles on prepaid.

But the phone is great and i enjoy the picture quality and the large screen. Great for web browsing and well anything. Just try to get on a glass protector. As well it can be tricky. Most shops dont like curved phones. Other than the few gimmicks its similar to the note 9 due to the screen size and what you can do with it.

For those die hard fans that expand their house bonds each time they order the latest model, well just more debt. You saved bundles for just about the same thing. (My friend had a heart attack as he pay over 1k for his iphone x and they launched a new phone. Still many payments to go.) So its a great buy and rather invest that extra money elsewhere, even property or Apple Shares.

The note 9 is faster than the 8.
The OP6 has faster animations, hence it feels faster.

I've never understood why people buy a note if they not going to use half the features it has to offer.

I've had a OP6, for me, as a power user, it doesn't come close to the note 9. The note 9 needs some tweaking, as in disabling a few settings, changing the animation speed etc. It's most definitely not a slow phone, far from it.

Btw, battery life is exceptional on the note 9. I know the 8 was horrible.

I'll find that out this morning. You know insurance companies, always trying to get out of a claim.

One of my wife's clients who works with insurance claims and investigations on a daily basis saw my complaint on Facebook and said I must phone her this morning.

Maybe that's good news.

Indeed, I will never understand why people buy a Galaxy Note if they do not use the features, particularly the SPen..

Anyone know where I can get a Whitestone Dome Glass Replacement Kit at a good price?

Also, I've got the following original covers up for grabs (R300 each):

Note 8 Clear View Standing Cover(Black).
Note 8 Clear View Standing Cover (Deep Blue).
Note 8 Clear View Standing Cover (Gold).
Note 8 LED View Cover (Black).
Note 8 LED View Cover (Orchid Gray).
Note 8 LED View Cover (Gold).

Galaxy S8 Clear Cover (Gold).

Sent you a PM. Know it's waaaaay later than this post. :)

But, do you perhaps still have these covers?

Agreed.

The SPen is the major reason for me buying a Note again. The hardware and other specs are a bonus. After the Note 4 (my first Note) I will never be able to use a 'normal' smartphone again, regardless of how good it is. It has to have a stylus. :)

What is your thoughts??

My Note 8 is blacklisted as you all know by now. (The person I bought it from stopped paying the contract and was put under Debt Review so the phone was Blacklisted too)

All functions of the Note 8 is working perfectly on Wifi except for Making and Receiving Calls and also SMS's.

Do you think I should get another Note 8 or should I just get a cheap phone (Huawei P20 Lite) and use it as a Hotspot so I can still use my Note 8 fully and make and receive calls on the P20 Lite?

I think the P20 Lite is the best phone for the price range.

If I get another Note 8 then the Blacklisted one will go to the drawer.

Can you take over the payment of the remaiming ontract or is that not possible/worth it?

Get a cheap phone far calls and keep the note 8. Maybe it will eventually get unblocked. Did you speak to the service provider?

Exciting times ahead for us Note8 users :D

Hmmm... How long will it take for that person to get back into the black with the rising cost of living we are currently experiencing (fuel going up steeply etc...).

I would say just get another Note8 or upgrade to Note9.

If you're looking for another Note 8, I have 1 for sale and it's not on contract.

I'm never buying a phone from someone again. In the future I'll just wait out my contract duration or buy cash from a Cellphone Shop.

I'm still deciding on what I should do today. Cheap phone and tether my Note 8 to it or a new Note 8.

Note 9 is R300 more per month and definitely not worth it.
