Hi guys

Someone gave me a Galaxy Note II that has a broken screen. The lady used the phone for about two months then dropped it. The glass shattered and the AMOLED panel is dead. The rest of the phone is fine. It turns on, buttons light up, it rings, everything. Only the screen is dead and touch doesn't work. No body damage at all. Samsung quotes R2500 to fix it, which is a lot. I can buy a replacement on BidorBuy for around R1600, but it says LCD panel. I am knowledgeable enough to replace it myself, just worried that it's an LCD panel. I really want an AMOLED panel. I live in Nelspruit. Does anyone know any shop that would be able to fix this for less than the official Samsung quote? I'm kinda scared to give a local Pakistani entrepreneur a chance, because he might put in an LCD panel or leave out the Wacom digitizer that's needed for the S-Pen. I need a proper fix on this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Quick update. iFix also charges R2500 for the fix. Cell Clinix looked promising but doesn't have a Nelspruit branch. Then there is Cell Clinic in Nelspruit. They charge R2300 for the repair. Any others?

I am in a similar boat, my toddler dropped my phone, screen cracked. You cannot even see the damage, but once the Samsung repair center opened it up they found it.

Quoted R2382 to fix it.

You can gamble with "cheaper" shops, or try something off ebay/bidorbuy, but here is what I am considering:

1. If the R1600 item does get held up at customs you look at 30% import tax thus total cost for your screen is R2080
2. Anywhere except Samsung themselves you don't know if you get a cheep @#$@#$ knockoff part that is unresponsive and dim.
3. You might not get any type of warranty on the parts.

Personally I think the R700 extra is worth the peace of mind, sadly.

Meh. Yes sadly, it probably is. I don't really trust cheap shops or cheap import screens...

Thanks for the trouble, I really appreciate it. :) Middelburg is just too far unfortunately. We already live far from Nelspruit.

Got this quote from Smartlab. 400km is too far for me though. :(
