Hi,

I restarted my phone yesterday and 80% of my applications wont work now.
I can still make calls, send sms's but almost all my applications crash if i try to run them and some applications are missing.

I tried to run a scan disk on the external card.
anything else i can try before reloading?

Normal restart...
all my contacts, sms's are still there

I am using the pre release 2.2.1

pre-release? That's probably your problem right there.

Which 2.2.1 release are you running? JPX/JPY? Some custom ROMs have better kernels. Try downloading Doc's latest from his ROM Kitchen. My guess is you can take the non-wipe option if you're already running JPX/JPY.

i think i should just reload the phone....whats the best ROMS at the moment?

Thread hijack sorry.

I've been reading up a bit on Roms and this thread with its link to the Rom Kitchen has been providing great insight. That and the xda forums.

I'm running Froyo 2.2.1 JPU (got the phone like this), but it doesn't seem my phone is rooted. The root issue I discovered when I tried installing Titanium Backup.

So as I'd like to try some Roms, with either the above mentioned Rom kitchen or perhaps I'd be adventurous and try Darky's v8 Rom.

Quickest way to root?

On a related note, just took my phone out of screen lock and quite a few apps are missing. Wtf?

Edit:

Apps were not removed from phone, but from my home screens.

The only thing I'd done before that was install Krazy Kart Racing from Samsung Apps.
