Hi

I am a fairly new sgs owner, but the lag is beginning to annoy me so I would like to do something about it. I just need some advice from people who have done it already, using a vodacom galaxy S (the one which has vodafone animations on startup and shutdown).

My understanding so far, is that I need to root my phone. I then need to do a 3button combo fix (3 button combo does not work on my device - i think all vodacom galaxy s has problems). And then I need to install a lagfix.

So my questions are :
1. Which root method should I use?
2. Which 3 button fix should I use?? There are various ones available, and from what I can gather, certain methods brick certain galaxy s phones.
3. Which lagfix should I use? On XDA, they have crossed out ryanZA's method, and it seems like the Voodoo lagfix is the best? Is this true?

I would appreciate some advice from someone who has done all of this on a Galaxy S from vodacom.

Thank you in advance for any replies.

PS - Im quite a noob when it comes to android so detailed explanations (with links preferably) would be really nice!

Thanks

hi new guy.

I fixed the 3 button combo using ODIN

then I downloaded a rooted kernel and flashed with ODIN, that rooted my phone.

Then i installed Clockworkmod recovery

then i cooked up a custom rom in Docs Rom Kitchen and flashed that with Clockworkmod.

seeing as you gonna void your warranty by rooting, why not go for a custom rom with a lagfixed Kernel?

All the info you need is in the SGS thread here, and also read the FAQ on XDA

Before anything just check if your 3 button combo works. Newer phones tend to not have the issue.
Heres how.
Switch the phone completely off, as in wait 1-2mins after the screen goes off.
Hold the volumen up button and home button and press the power button.
Release just the power button once the samsung screen comes on and keep holding the other two.
A terminal type window should appear with options, if it doesn't then try again a couple of times. If it still doesn't work go and read up on applying the 3 button fix before reading anything else.
