Hi Guys

I have a vertical line down the middle of my phone.
Have googled it but cannot really find anything similiar.

It has not been dropped or mistreated. Apeared while looking at a photo on facebook.

Will take to Vodacom I guess but then Ill be without a phone for nine years again.

does it have a screen guard?
if yes, remove it and see if it still has that line...
if no, you'll probably need to replace the screen...

post a screenshot?

It does have a dcreenguars. Removed it and nothing.

I backed up the phone and did a hard Reset. Now when I did a restore no apps, scrrensavers ringtones are there.
I am highly PISSED OFF!!!

looks like a row of dead leds, aka faulty screen...
take it back to voda to get it fixed and hopefully they will fix it for free and/or give u a new one...

Thats what I thought.

Im on Version 2.3.5, hope they wont give me issues about updating it :/

Why not just go back to 2.3.4? May be safer.

I cant find the original one :O

FML and this phone ( But I still love the phone :D )

well you should be more lucky now with voda and their STUPID repair policy lol the majority of their subsribers are based in jhb but they've moved their repair center to cape town,i went to vodaworld last week because my htc sensation had dust under the screen cover, they told me to wait seven damn days,i told them to go f themselves because seriously they so f'ing big why couldn't they just set up two repair centers one in ct and leave the one at vodaworld!?????

Jannie?Care to tell us why such a silly decision was made?Maybe mybb can do a piece on this as I feel its a big setback for consumers and a step back for vodacom since they always used to advertise repairs while you wait at vodaworld in the past.

It sad that they dumbing down their cellular mall.

Here you go (It is the 2.3.3 which the SA SGSII came out with):

South Africa

XWKF3:http://www.multiupload.com/6Y93SC0XLA
Firmware info: PDA:XWKF3| PHONE:XXKE7| CSC:OJCKE1

XWKF3 Stock Kernel:http://www.multiupload.com/27Q9LQEB94
Password: intratech@XDA

Also read this:
After you've loaded the new firmware, do a factory reset on your phone. Type this into your dialer : *2767*3855# (just be aware that it will wipe everything on your phone)

You're almost done. Last step.

You need to change the Customer Sales Code (CSC) back to your South African service provider (think this firmware gives you a XEN code, which is for the Netherlands).

Type the following into your dialer : *#272*<IMEI># code and choose XFA for generic SA phone (worked for me), XFM for MTN, XFC for CellC, XFV for Vodacom, and don't know who XFE is. Maybe Virgin?

You can get your <IMEI> code with *#06# and it will list your 15 digit imei code.

If that doesn't work, here is the CSC codes for South Africa : South Africa OJCKI1 CSC: http://www.multiupload.com/RL6J8FSVPN

Install it via Odin, just select CSC and select the file you've downloaded. Just be aware that it might also wipe your phone.

Thanks Guys

I called Vodacare Tygervalley and I chatted to a lady called Kelly. She said its quite a common problem that they have had and if the phone is under warranty they will fix it.

I have printed all the CPA docs that I will be taking with as there is no ways im going to hear some BS story from another person if she has told me this.

The phone has not got a single scratch on it and I am hoping they dont come with some BS story that I have dropped it or something. A crack in the screen would not look anything like the line I have down the middle.

Hopefully it gets resolved quickly...

Vodacom should repair it easily, normally their repairs section is pretty good and dont give you hassles at all.

Only thing im ticked of about is the whole no repairs while you wait anymore....its seriously a big step back for them.

So the pretty AMOLED is also pretty crappy?

Ill keep you all up to date.

I will take it in on Tuesday as I was told the phone would pretty much just sit there till then anyways.
Ideally Id like a new phone. This one will now be split in two due to a known problem and then another screen fitted.

Not really happy to be honest but lets see what happens.

Screen was replaced. Seems fine now...
Had the problem with the phone going into MTP Connected and not charging. Waking me up in the middle of the night thinking it is on charge. I would turn the phone off and then it would come back on etc.

So lets see.
