Hi All,

So I got a S3 today and connected the device to a WiFi network.
I can browse the interwebs however, no application can connect successfully via the Wifi.

The Wifi connection does use proxy settings.

I know that certain apps are not blocked on the network, since it works fine on my iPad.

Please help :(

I am probably not going to be much help but did you try the apps via the mobile data connection and are they working? Have you tried via a wifi connection where no proxy is required?

Via mobile - yes it is working.
I don't have another wifi connection at the moment. I will try it out @ home, later.

Have you set up your account with the Play Store?

Yip. All good.

Besides the play store, if I try to use the FNB app it doesn't work.
I really doubt the FNB app is linked to the play store account.

If its working via the phone mobile data connection, then its definitely a problem with the proxy - only way to know for certain is to test on a wifi network with no proxy.

I suspect certain apps might work via the iPad, maybe because it connects differently??? I am not sure.

I works fine with a mobile connection and a WiFi without a proxy.
When I use the browser on the S3, it asks me for the proxy credentials. I suspect the apps can't ask for these credentials.

Unlike the iOS where the proxy details are stored in one location and used throughout the OS, I suspect the S3 doesn't work like this :(

You can add the proxy details on the actual wifi connection.

When adding your wifi credentials, there is a "Show advanced Options" tick box at the bottom. Once you check that, you will be presented with more options, where you can add your proxy details.

Yes, that is how I store the proxy information --> IP/Port.
However, it doesn't allow me to store my credentials. This is where the problem lies
