Galaxy S3 - FNB Price Drop

Another forum member mentioned it somewhere here on the forum and I checked it out sometime in the last week or so.
 
I saw the price drop this Monday but noticed that in internet banking it was still R295. When I tried to order it asked me to confirm at R295 and R441.xx insurance. I queried it and only got a response on Wednesday when they updated the price and insurance in internet banking.

I ordered on Wednesday and haven't heard anything from them, it said up to 10 days :(
 
I'm trying to work out why this would be such a good deal?

I got my SGS3 from MTN at R499 on the Anytime 350 contract. So I'm paying a R149pm premium for the phone over 24 months. I also get 75mb of data thrown in.
 
What if you already have a 24-month contract? Why would you want to pay R499 more a month for a phone?

I was looking at MTNs contract as well, and I found that Cell C and FNB bundle works out better for my needs.
Here is a logic:

MTN
R350 airtime = 152mins (2.30per minute)
25 sms
75MBs

Total Cost: R499.00

Cell C & FNB
FNB S3 = R269

Cell Straight up 200 which cost R200.00
Minutes = 200
200 SMS
200 MB

Total Cost: 469.00

With the Cell C / FNB Deal, I get more minutes, more SMSs and more data compare to MTN, and I save R30.00pm

Because I use more data than minutes, I'm taking out the following:

S3 via FNB: 269
Straight up 50 with additional 300MB : R95

Total cost: R344

And If I need more minutes, I just pay a cool 99c per minute :)

Dont forget 15c oob rates.
Mtn has 'good specials' (comes with R200 or R350 airtime), you have to be a bit foolish to not understand the the said airtime is pretty useless, i.e. R2.30 per min for calls, R2 per mb for data, and you cannot buy bundles...

Even with what i have said above in mind, there are still better specials with VC and MTN vs. Cell c when it comes to top end phones.

Not sure it is necessary to refer to people as foolish, superskully.

VG008, the in bundle rate on the Anytime 350 is R1.95 not R2.30. What appeals to me is something you allude to later in your post and that is that I can use that for whatever I want. I am very unlikely to use 179 minutes of talk time in a month but I could go over my allocated data of 75MB rather easily. 200 SMS are a total waste to me. I once stupidly added a 50 SMS bundle and don't think I used any of them for three months before cancelling it. Give me more data and let me Whatsapp and the like.

Those "out of bundle" costs do make it better.

Also what is that R97, monthly bank charges? That needs to be factored in too. Obviously I would be paying bank charges at my bank too but it would be interesting to compare those to do a thorough comparison.

What is the Cell C network like now? There used to be complaints about coverage and signal? Not an issue any more?

Yo dude, no offence, was with Mtn for years until porting recently, Mtn 200, i just wasted it in the end. I tend to have fights with many ppl on this, and win, as most ppl dont really care about saving a few rands,they identify a good deal by stating they get back 60% in airtime...

You will find That you start using more data and phoning less with time, therefore cheaper data costs will be more important, esp. For smartphones

I think there is a 20% limit on data on your allocated airtime from mtn.
R97 is bank charges, you have to be a client.
Mtn and vc still rule with coverage, but in all towns/cities cellc is up there if not better.
