Galaxy S3 Mobile data problems

First of all, I just want to say hi to everyone. This is my first post on this forum.

I am having some problems with my Galaxy S3 and I was wondering if anyone could help me.

1.Since the Jelly Bean update my mobile data sometimes stops working. Every 2 hours or so, I would realise that the mobile data stopped working. The settings show that mobile data is active, but there is no data flowing. To resolve this problem I have to turn mobile data off and back on again. Suddenly all my emails and messages would come through. A while later the whole process repeats itself. Before the update this never happened.
2.My play store constantly says “Connection timed out.” while not using Wi-Fi and does not open. When using Wi-Fi it works perfectly. This problem happened even before the Jelly Bean update.

I am on Cell C and only have EDGE signal most of the time. At my workplace the Cell C signal is really poor and 50% of the time it changes over to roaming on Vodacom.

Any info or advice would be appreciated.
 
My data roaming is on and restrict background data is off. All my sync setting is correct.
It even shows the mobile data icon (E, G or H+) next to the signal indicator. The up and down arrows (indicating data upload and download) just never lights up until I disable mobile data and enable it again.

I've had this twice or so, but could never find the cause. I rebooted the phone and the issue went away. Definitely not a serious issue for me, but I had this before the JB update as well, so it's not related to that.
 
Yep, I'm pretty pissed off with the new update :(

Everything was 100% fine.

I normally have Wifi and Mobile Data ON. At home I use Wifi, and when I leave home, often the mobile data just doesn't work - it shows as ON, but I have to turn it OFF and ON again to get it to trasnfer anything.

Very annoying :(

Can I revert back to the old version of the OS?
 
Had this problem on my MTN S III even before the update. My wife couldn't SMS,Whatsapp or phone me, but the phone showed Data active and signal full.

Other problems I have is losing my data connection and it doesn't automatically register again. I need to switch Flight Mode on and off to restore the connection.
 
Hi guys,

I think that I have the same problem, except one little difference.

When the 'problem' arises, Internet stops working, email stops working, Google Play store stops working.

But WhatsApp messages still work fine. VNC also works fine.

So to me, it seems as if Vodacom is having problems letting my phone do web data during the problem period, while other ports work fine....

Ideas?
