Get an SIII.

The Note 2 will be bigger, but have lesser specs apart from the 1.5GB RAM. It only supports 32GB MicroSD cards, the SIII supports 64GB and apparently 128GBs when they come out. According to GSMarena at least, the CPU will run at a higher clock speed but only have 2 cores.

That said, even if it is better, there's always something new on the horizon and by the time the Note 2 actually releases, something neew will be on the horizon. So it all depends on when your upgrade is due or when you when to fork out a few grand and buy the thing cash.

Another Note user here. If we're looking at software features, there is very little difference between the GNote and the S3 if your GNote has ICS 4.0.4 already. The S3 is an amazing device and I realise that it has 2 more cores and superior hardware but it is very difficult to notice a performance difference between the two devices.

As a fellow GNote user I would advise you to wait for the GNote 2 announcement and see what it has to offer before making a choice between that and a S3. Personally even though there is only a 0.5 inch difference between the GNote and the S3, I simply cannot bring myself to get a device with a smaller display, just too used to the GNote super screen.

The rumors state that the Note 2 will have a bigger display but the same dimensions as the Note 1, basically the black border that goes around the Note 1 screen is going to be used for display purposes on the Note 2. Even though GSMArena states that the Note 1 (and possibly the Note 2) can only use 32GB microSD, you can use 64GB cards in the Note 1 and I'm sure the Note 2 will allow it as well. I've been using a 64GB card in my Note 1 for over 6 months now.

If there is any truth to the rumors about the Note 2 CPU being dual core Exynos 5250 then it would be superior to the quad core S3 in this department as well. Even though it is dual core that 5250 chipset is more powerful than the quad 4412 chipset found in the S3. Personally, I do not think that the Note 2 will have a this super dual core CPU, I believe that it will have the same quad found in the S3 with slight overclocking.

So thus far the rumors state that the Note 2 will have superior RAM , better CPU chipset, bigger display on the same size device as the GNote 1. Other rumors (not seen on GSMArena) even suggested the unbreakable flexiglass technology and 12MP camera on the Note 2. At the end of the day all or very little of the above could be true. I still suggest waiting to see what it really offers.

I think this depends on you. Can you downsize your screen preference? If not, then you may as well wait for the Galaxy Note 2 :)

Specs have already been confirmed for the Note 2, it begins shipping in 2 weeks.

Its running the Exynos 5250 Quad Core with 1.5GB ram, Android 4.1 and JellyBean, 13MP Camera and TouchWizz 5.
On paper its far superior to the S3 and does not have its drop sensativity or blue screen.

That being said samsung is already working on a new "Android King" so no matter what phone you get your only a few weeks away from it loosing its throne. Samsung and HTC will keep outdoing themselves and each other month in an month out.

Personalty I will be sticking with the Note range, as a designer the stylus in invaluable. Found it strange how easy it is to work on and even manage some of my clients sites from my phone with a few simple cheap apps.

If you find the Notes unique features as valuable as I do then any phone outside the range, even if hardware wise is superior, it would feel as a downgrade because you will be loosing those key features that made the Note great.

You alone can answer that question, as you are the one that needs the phone and you know how you use it and what you use it for, if you were comparing an upgrade from say the S2 or the HTC Desire and wanted to compare the S3 with the One X then our opinions are invaluable, but your coming from what could be considered a specialist phone making our opinions far less valuable without some extensive insight to exactly how you use the phone you currently have.

What I read was global shipping on the 15th, but compared to past 2 weeks behinds not much.

Sounds like u use ur note as a phone more than a tool for lack of a better word. Me personally make use of the stylus dependant and enhanved functions numerous times a day. You could probably get away with any phone really.

I would suggest the one x over the s3 and I am not a big htc fan. The phone is however far more durable than the s3 and in some regards better specd, think its cheaper too. Go to youtube and see the numerous drop test videos, the S3 failed repeatedly, which is worsend by its high drop likelyhood because of the smooth almost glossed cover.

If you are already used to the bigger screen, the S3 won't make you happy.

And the specs of the Note 2 is off the charts!! Would be my choice.
