Hi all,

I got my Galaxy S4 in June. Over the past week the battery has been performing strangely and poorly.

1) The device reaches 15% and warns of a low battery and then just shuts off around 10 - 14%.
- When I plug in a charger and boot the device it reads 0%.

2) The device reached 50%, rebooted due to some bug as it rarely does, immediately went down to ~15%.

This first point is happening with almost every charge cycle. I don't often get that "Critical Battery Low" message anymore at 5% as I don't get to 5%.

Are there any known issues with this? It also feels like the battery is draining significantly faster.

Same thing happened with me.. The whole batch of BD batteries are messed up. You should be able to get a new one from Samsung. It's an international problem

I checked mine a while ago, and it starts with AA.... I got mine through Cell C in May....

for those too lazy to look in the S4 thread about this and the thread is long I figure I will post this here. :)

I also had the battery problem, I emailed [email protected] adn they gave me more details based on where I am based.

there is also official word that all SA service providers have recieved batteries and should be able to replace your battery in store, without taking your phone away for a few days. however mtn is stupid so dont even try with them.

Thanks!!

Thanks Baxteen! I tried scumbag Somerset Mall Cellc who refused to replace my 4 month old s4 battery and told me to go to Canal Walk - 100km round trip. I emailed samsung and they delivered a new battery within 24 hours.

I know this thread is rather old but I wanted to share my experience with others having the same issue. I've been having issues with my Galaxy S4 lately where the battery would be on 80% charge and then suddenly restart and be on 0%. Having phoned a couple of Vodacom stores all they wanted to do was to either book my phone in for repairs or sell me a new battery. A friend then told me to contact the Samsung Service Centre in Century City, Cape Town, which I did, and they replaced my battery free of charge, over the counter. It seems funny that the service providers are not aware of this issue, else they would've told me to take it straight to Samsung, right?

Services providers often employ less than well informed people. Samsung has great after sales service in South Africa, so it is always worthwhile to work through them.

I replaced mine through the Samsung service centre in Boksburg. They had to replace some charging module so it took a week but it was all free.

anyone know if they will replace my 23-month old S4 battery? it is swollen and jumps from having plenty of power to having 0% and then i struggle to get any charge on it.

Yep, same here. Considering popping down to CW to buy one at their store, but if I could save a few hundred bucks that would be awesome

all galaxy s4 users had to replace their batteries due to samsung's technical faults. I was one of them. go to a samsung store and get a new battery it should work fine there was an issue from the start of the launch

Not true. There was one batch of faulty batteries. My sgs4 was not affected.
