Hi guys,
I have had it with this crap phone. Why don't Nokia just bring out 3310's again?
I keep getting "unfortunately, (music, contacts etc.) has stopped" and "currently unable to download try again later".
Also on my home screen, next to the signal bar the h+ comes on and disappears again. Almost like it restarts the whole time.

I have tried the take out battery trick. Clear memory/Cache. Flight mode and back to force restart of Vodacom.
Phone gets very hot and drains battery in 3 hours like this. I had a similar problem last time and I just forced stopped the Vodacom apps and disabled it. Problem went away. Now all of a sudden same thing again. Just this time its default apps.

No I have not installed any apps recently and no I dont use 75% of the phones features, I dont mess around with the phone to much.

Please if anyone knows help me please. Been on the android forums, but that place is painful.

1. Check if your battery is swollen.
2. Check for firmware updates.
3. Do a factory wipe and go get the latest firmware from Sammobile
4. Report back

That is a common problem with the S4, check with your service provider for a free swop of your battery. After that also check for firmware updates

What's your serial number of your battery? is it between BD1D401XX and BD1D529XX if yes take it to your closest samsung smart care centre they will swap it for free - there is a common issue with the S4 batteries and my anecdotal evidence is Vodacom ended up with a majority of these, so far all the people who had this issue had this serial number were on vodacom :(

You can take it to vodacom but i wouldn't bother they might give you a run around!

I had that same problem, got my phone through MTN.
Swopped the battery fore free after having it for more than a year (both Voda and MTN know about the problem).
Suddenly battery was working very well!

I agree after firmware updates some issues did disappear.
Hope you come right cause Ive been using the S4 for roughly 2 years now and its an awesome phone.

Keeping GPS or wifihotspot on drains the battery fast.

e.g. if you have the hotspot on then a USB (PC) driven charging will barely keep up with the drain.

Hi guys, no its not the battery. If I switch of mobile data the phone stays cool and battery lasts a day at least. I did have a faulty battery that was swelling, but that was replaced a good few months back.
When I switch on mobile data, the H+ next to the signal bar keeps appearing and disappearing. (H+, no H+,H+, no H+, H+ etc)
I had the same issue a month or so back, then it was some vodacom installed apps. I forced stopped the app and disabled the app (unable to download kept popping up), next I switched on flight mode and after a minute switched it off again. Stable H+ next to signal bar ever since untill two days ago. So no I just leave my mobile data off and phone is fine. All hotspots etc is switched off, I never use it

Its the I9500

Go into settings and change it to WCDMA only and see if that helps.

Same thing soul assassin. Will have to do a factory reset as a last resort though.
Any recommended software to help backup and restore all my data?
