Galaxy SII worth getting in SA?

Do you think the galaxy s2 will be worth getting in sa?

Considering the phone is all about connectivity and internet, we do not have the sort of infrastructure/connectivity as in other countries. The other factor is the high data charges here...its not like we can take our phone anywhere and expect to get wifi. Apart from the price of the phone data is gona cost a fortune.

I feel we wont be using the phone to its potential or how its meant to be used, but i still feel like getting it...

Your thoughts?
 
Well it is the best phone you can get.
I think a 500MB bundle, coupled with wi-fi, will be plenty. Save the heavy downloads and app updates for when you're using wi-fi.
There's also the excellent camera, and amazing screen for viewing photos and videos.

My contract ended on the 15th of May and decided to go prepaid, got an sms this morning saying Im officially on Call Per Second.
I have been eying the SGS Nexus S until I read about the SGSII and now Im really hooked.
I hope it will be available soon cause I cant be on Prepaid for long.

Beats me, I stick with pre-paid. I don't know if anyone besides Red Bull Mobile offer decent smartphone contracts. You can always add on an internet data bundle to your contract.
 
That question can apply to any smart phone in the country, the only phones exempt are the Blackberrys because of their subscription services.

So yes, if the options are up any other smart-phone you might as well get the latest and greatest. Just prepare yourself for the sadness in a years time when the Galaxy S III is out and you are still stuck in a contract paying off original phone.

Correct! Other companies should offer something similar to BIS.

Would be cool except with BB it's a one horse race, I guess Apple could bring out something similar but it's not really their market.
 
I wont mind paying R149 for a 2gig bundle pm like that of the 3G modems. Dont see why they wont do that for mobiles.

You could put the SIM card from the modem in the phone. Don't know how that woul handle calls and SMS messages though.
If only the S2 was a dual SIM phone. Then you could have one SIM for data and another for the rest...

Our networks should really wake up and offer decent packages and better data bundle prices though. They suck :(
 
Is it possible to use a 3G data sim(cellc whoooosh modem etc) in a phone to make use of the data bundle/cap? If so what are the resistrictions?
Im assuming u wont be able to make calls, but data and sms's should be fine?
 
Afaik u can use the data card in a phone, just load airtime, prepaid, in other words. Was considering this, but thought screw this and just got a bb instead
