Hi

To cut a long story short, after a few months of being in and out of hospital, i have finaly been informed that i need to have my gall bladder removed.
The Doctors say that aftewards i will be able to live a normal life, with regards to eating, drinking, no more pains etc.

I have done a bit of reading and i have found alot of people that say they was not the case for them. many of them suffer from bad pains, diarrhea, vommiting etc etc.

Just wondering if any1 has had this operation, and how they reacted to it.

Any info would be much appreciated !

Thank you

I have had mine removed and had no problem at all. Changed absolutely nothing - eat, drink and party just as I always have done.
The only difference from my life before is now I have 3 tiny scars :)

My mom in law had hers out (they left her personality in by accident though) and she's on a pretty strict low oil diet now.

My doc told me that years ago it was thought that fatty/oily food would be a problem but it was proven to be not the case.
Should get your mom in law to chat to another doc. She will love you to bits if she can kick the diet :)

Just keep in mind your liver will do more work without the gall bladder there.

Best to avoid future complications and try to cut down on oily foods (yes, pizza is on that list).

...or, she'll spend a day in close proximity to the bathroom, not knowing from one moment to the next which end to point at the bowl. Subsequently she'll slap him upside the head.

A cursory read seems to indicate that the effects are quite variable from one person to the next.

Either way I win ;)
