Institution:

Ludum Labs

We are offering an opportunity for game developers of all experience levels to join us in one of our experimental crowdsourcing game projects.

Position Summary:

This is a paying, work-from-home position that has no requirements on hours worked, only that the task assigned is completed by the due date (we have progress check-ins where we offer assistance).

Developers are free to use their preferred development software as long as coding is in C++ (we recommend using unreal engine 4, especially since it is now free).

Requirements, Qualification, Experience:
If you can complete the task you choose then you will get paid. No qualification or skill list necessary (we know from experience it is hard to reflect your coding knowledge if you are self-taught, hobbyists :)).

Salary & Benefits:
Salary is dependent on tasks undertaken but expect R2000 per task (average of a task a week for medium level developers). Benefits would be WFH in your spare time.

Application Information:
Seasoned members feel free to PM us. Newbies can email: Disposable email - not good
A 'CV' of skill set is not necessary but it would assist in assigning tasks (Include whatever you want).

We look forward to hearing from you soon. :)

Maybe the tasks don't take long?

Apparently they take a week for a mid level developer. But, yeah, perhaps they're expecting an hour or two a day. They should specify part time (or how many hours) if so - actually that's probably what they meant by spare time.

Can you give me something to do with the UE4, so that I can see if I can actually do it?

I have spoken to them, and got a reply back.I have also done some research on ludlum labs. They seem to originate from South America, the documentation they provided, like two pages of what they would like their freelancers to do, is more of a design documents, then any thing else.

Definitely not worth the effort, considering emails received from a google address and not from ludlum labs directly, I suspected phishing, however it seems more like a fly by night operation, or a one man business at best.So I would be careful, already sent my CV and regretting it bit now.

At R2000.00 a task is also ridiculous, considering for my last 4 week project I did last month earned me a total of $750 for a 100 entity project(This project will be released as a DLC on steam mid may). As a content developer, living in South Africa it's much easier for me to out bid projects and able to do them fairly cheaply. But the actual rate for content developers amateurs $5 to $20 per hour, part time freelancer $20 to $40 an hour, and full time freelancer $40 to $100 per hour(What I do).

The company I freelance for we negotiate for flat rates, quote for how many hours, and how many days ect, make provisions for delays ect, I include paye fees, tax, operating costs, internet data, even software costs. So even a R2000.00 per task for a mid level developer is way-way below market average, even as a part time hobby.

Considering I am working an average of 8 to 10 hours a day, during the week and 8 hours total on weekends, the assigned tasks, pending what they are, may take several 100's or a just 10 or 20 hours and regardless of the complexities, the pay remains the same flat rate.

So no I wouldn't, and regret I did query about their projects, I would advise any one else against it as well, as for me, they can't afford me,
