Game prices - PC vs Console

With the xbox & ps3 consoles limiting game developers in terms of gfx & processing power needed for todays games I've spend very little on pc upgrades as system requirements for games have been stagnant for years now. I still have a core2quad and a ati 6850(only thing upgraded in prob 5 years) had a 4850 up till few months ago can still play every game on high. I've spend less on pc upgrades than the price of consoles. Consoles have actually made it cheaper to keep a pc updated cause they hold every developer back so no need to upgrade

Maybe its because not alot of people pirate games on console as much as PC. They want to maximise their profits by making console games more expensive than PC.

Do the same with my wireless xbox 360 controller & PC. I have a small case not much bigger than the xbox 360. People who visit assume i'm playing console. But when i whip out my wireless keyboard and mouse for FPS they turn green with envy.

O wait let me just ALT TAB and do some internet banking real quick... oh a skype call just came in.
Is that a torrent running in the background... eish this is one awesome console, oh wait :D

Oh btw I just paid $10 on steam for the same game you paid R600 for on console, u suck! :D

I'm Playing Uncharted in 3D ;)

PC Games makes there money back with downloadable content

Hehe I'm not sure if you're bragging about 3D or Uncharted.

Btw 3D isn't ps3 exclusive.
And Uncharted is okayish, all platforms have exclusives.
Xbox has Gears of war which I like.

PC also has exclusives... You won't see Diablo 3 my friend ;)

+1
I've also experienced this.
Still have 4+ year old pc and still rocks today.
And 5 years ago the PS3 was not R3k!

I wouldn't be too sure about that, I remember reading this:

http://www.1up.com/news/continues-look-like-diablo-iii-coming-consoles

But they sort of smoke gets blown up the ass just about every year, just like the delays for Diablo 3 :D I'd still rather buy it on PC than console. For once at least the PC will get an title before the consoles. GTA:IV was the reason I bought a console originally, glad I did cos it took forever to come out on PC and it still wasn't right.

Did anyone pick up any more information coming out of Blizzcon regarding the porting? It makes sense, more $$$ for Blizzard.

For me, a PC just takes up too much space & needs too much looking after. If you're a teenager who can have one in "his room" then it's ok because that can be your life, but when you have adult responsibilities & work looking and chasing after a PC just isn't going to work too well. Unless you live in your "mama basement", the quintessential geek.

Ok you win. I dont have a 3D TV or Uncharted 3 .... yet. But honestly it just comes down to personal preference and exclusives. For now I will have to live with not being able to play Alan Wake and Gears of war and Mario on Wii. I'm not a PS3 fanboy, I just dont have the extra moola to buy an extra console:cry:

Totally agree with you. Love the exclusives, luckily I have a Nintendo 3DS so i'll see Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 oh yes and in 3D :D

But no Gears or Uncharted is sad but i cant just buy every console out there for one or two games.

Convenience is a primary advantage of consoles.

Not convinced I can build an entire PC for the same price either.

While I prefer to player a shooter with a mouse and keyboard I didn't find this worked particularly well on a couch.

how did this thread change direction from the price of games to which is better console or PC

BTW most ( i said most not all so dont go all crazy on me) games nowadays are made for console then ported to PC, so suffice it to say it would look better on the console.
Just my thoughts no need to crucify me if you disagree :)

Waiting for someone to say "they're made on PCs"

this is gonna be another pc vs console bash thread! have fun....

since its like this now, i say the easy of use for many out there makes a console game better, they are ported to pc because a console game is way better to produce, you are set with a standard system specs and thats it does not change from console to console! im no pc fan boy im console all the way, but im open minded, people prefer a mouse and keyboard but people like me and many others prefer the pop in and play, no hassles nothing its just ease of use at the end of the day and your troubleshoot tolerance :)

While this is probably mostly true, I would assume most games that are made for consoles are also made with the idea of porting over the game to PC so PC's often have a lot better graphics options available if their hardware can support it.
