I decided since I have 2 days left I am going to burn my last couple of Cell C data and get my games for my DHD now 1 week old

!!!!!UPDATE!!!!!!
Great News for all you Android lovers, just got an email from Gameloft and they giving us a buy one and get one free sale on all the Android Games.

Head on over to http://wapshop.gameloft.com/wifi/hdplus_full_shop/ With your phone and at the bottom you should see an 50% icon use that to buy your games and dont buy via the normal web page.

That works out to R7 for the 1st game game and then navigate to the same list and you will see the second one is for free.

I'll be adding some quick links to the games that I played as I get to play them, you welcome to stop me at any time.

Modern Combat 2: Black Pegasus HD

Price: $4.99 / R35.00
Download: Gameloft
Size: apk file 4208 kb
Installed: 12.18 MB Can be moved to SD
Data: 330 MB installed by default onto SD
Review: Pocketgamer or Know your Mobile
Gameplay: Video

Will not download extra data using 3G, so a Wi-Fi connection is a must to install.

Does not run at all on HTC Wildfire (I know its obvious just had to try it as I have one)
Played like a Dream on HTC Desire HD (Stock OS) 2.2
Played fine on HTC Desire (CM7 RC2) 2.3.3

Multiplayer: Online using Wi-Fi only no 3G option. Currently I am getting my butt handed to me as well but you can host as well as join servers.
Singleplayer: Difficulty vary from to easy with all assists on, to die allot with them all turned off and on Hard. About 6-8 hours play depending on your settings and skill level.

Overall I would say if you are a FPS fan, get it well worth the money.

NOVA HD

Price: $4.99 / R35.00
Download: Gameloft
Size: apk file 9 MB
Installed: 16.06 MB Can be moved to SD
Data: 56 MB installed by default onto SD

Install using 3G (with Wi-Fi option)

Played like a Dream on HTC Desire HD (Stock OS) 2.2
Played fine on HTC Desire (CM7 RC2) 2.3.3

Multiplayer: Online only using Wi-Fi/3G
Singleplayer: You can see that this was one of there 1st tries in the FPS camp as the game play and FX are not that polished as say there later titels. Still story and game was an entertaining experience.

I would get this purely to shoot friends, and that with modern weaponry.

thanks OP!

how did you pay for the games? i heard you pay per download ie if your download fails you cant redownload without paying again??

I bought mine via Paypal. After purchase If I go to the "My Downloads" section using my email address as selection criteria all the games I bought are available for re-download. (Now all of them)
I have set up a Paypal account some time ago that is directly linked to my Credit card, that way when I buy stuff normally over the internet I always select Paypal options so I don't have to enter my card details on every new site I come across. I would advise doing the same as its more secure in the long run.

I don't know where they get the info from for the "My Downloads" if its from the Android Device or from my Paypal account as they both use the same email address. I can shoot off a mail to Gameloft asking them if you want.

For safety sake I would still advise saving the apk files anyway on your PC for back-up.

When I navigate to http://www.gameloft.com/my-downloads/ I see that all my games have my phone number linked to them as well.

Ok, you are correct you have a short time period that the games you bought on the 50% special will be on your re-download section. If you bought the games via the normal web site, they will stay for 3 years.

I saw the 1st games that I bought via the wap page on the phone are not on the list anymore, so I guess they stay on for only 24 hours.

Assassin's Creed™ - Altaïr's Chronicles HD

Price: $4.99 / R35.00
Download: Gameloft
Size: apk file 3 MB
Installed: 12.3 MB Can be moved to SD
Data: 153 MB installed by default onto SD

All the games I bought via the special only install via Wi-Fi

Played like a Dream on HTC Desire HD (Stock OS) 2.2
Played fine on HTC Desire (CM7 RC2) 2.3.3

Multiplayer: N/A
Singleplayer: Great platformer, brings me back to the old days of Prince of Persia 2 and 3 that I use to love. I played this on a Nintendo DS some 2 years back, exact same game.

If you looking for a platform game this would be great, I don't see this as having replay value for me but other people might like it.

Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X

Singleplayer: Best arcade flightsim you can get for me

Same story as the Original PC title, pity it doesn't have multiplayer as that would have made this truly the best flight sim for Android ever.

Asphalt 5

Price: $4.99 / R35.00
Download: Gameloft
Size: apk file 12.8 MB
Installed: 17 MB Can be moved to SD
Data: 98 MB installed by default onto SD

Install via 3G or Wi-Fi

Played like a Dream on HTC Desire HD (Stock OS) 2.2
Played fine on HTC Desire (CM7 RC2) 2.3.3

Multiplayer: N/A
Singleplayer: Intersting career racing where you race for money to power up car as well as buy new ones

Arcade racing game that borrowed from others like NFS and Ridge Racer, not unique but very interesting and fun to play esp when using accelerometer. I know there is a No. 6 out but that puppy wants 700 Mb so will have to wait till next month for me to play.

Do you know how to set up paypal with an FNB account? im looking to purchase a few games tomorrow (new month yay) how can i backup the apk files?

interested in modern combat and hawx

Nah, don't bother. Hawx HD is pathetic. Seriously bad. Spend you money on Asphalt 6 HD rather - apparently quite good.

I actually enjoyed HAWX, but then its a flight sim vs racing sim also Ashphalt 6 is a monster both in performance and in space... will post info shortly.

Asphalt 6

Size: apk file 7 MB
Installed: 18.06 MB
Data: 928 MB installed by default onto SD

Install using Wi-Fi only... come on you wanna try download a gig using 3G?

Played on HTC Desire HD (Stock OS) 2.2 (1 or 2 stutters in a race)
HTC Desire (CM7 RC2) 2.3.3 Dream on... not gonna happen

Multiplayer: Online only using Wi-Fi/3G only 8 people online compared to gt racing's 1200
Singleplayer:
Career looks like its going to be a long game, but this is not the type of game you fire up when waiting at the Doctors office, you going to play this at home... if you not playing games on your PC.

Played on both my iPhone and Desire HD (had to install on iphone to confirm menu loading times) and yes its the same. This is like a PC game for your phone, both with loading times and size, but in same line its a true benchmark of what phones can do today its amazing to see.

Update: Oh man I love the Cape Town map, shows bad road condition, tar aged also lost of half build bridges

Multiplayer: Online and local using WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G
Singleplayer: 100+ cars to unlock normal racing game interesting career races.

Not an arcade racer like Asphalt but certainly a great game, smooth multilayer and lots of competition online as iPhone and Android players compete in same races. If you don't have 1 gig for Asphalt but want a great racing game I would recommend this puppy. It also plays on my plain Desire, what Asphalt 6 refused to do. I didn't even have screen stutter on Desire where I had 1 or 2 on Asphalt 5.

Did it not work on the HTC Desire?
:wtf:
Why not? Lag, incompatible, or something else?

Installed and ran the 1st time, loading took forever and race felt like I was playing a turn based game. I left the game and ever since then I keep on dropping to desktop when I try to run it. Plays logo + movie, then I can see it trying to load menu as items come up then it just closes after about 40 seconds. Might be because I am on 2.3 but dought it as it seriously gives my DHD a run for its money in CPU usage.

If anyone bought Gameloft titles via the wap page and updated their phones. (Pointing to recent HTC desire HD updates.)

If you game doesn't work, simply uninstall the game (Don't delete the data files) and re-install it. The game will run as normal, in some you might have lost your progress but the game will be back to normal.

Just installed Rainbow Six on my DHD.. and man I love this game, good to see I can now take it with me :)
