Gamemax and suspensions

I got suspended for some reason, I suspect it was the proxy (Blizzard says "online trading activities including gold buying / selling, powerleveling etc.) and was wondering:

Has anyone currently using Gamemax been suspended lately? I would like to start using the service again but I am not sure if it is safe anymore.

Blizzard mentioned that Your Freedom, a free / paid for proxy service is not allowed.

So, any Gamemax users get a temporary ban lately?
 
Phone them and explain that you are from Africa, and using Gamemax is the only solution to get WoW going from your mudhut :P

I sent two emails, attached a picture of my ID and original game box with CD key and spent an hour on the phone waiting for them.

When I eventually got through the person on the other side understood why the proxy service could be seen as using a powerleveling service, and then informed me to stay away from Your Freedom (free proxy).

He did not know about Gamemax.

The only real difference between Gamemax and Your Freedom is that Your Freedom has a limited speed and hourly DC free version out there, and there has been issues with people getting banned using their service.

I am assuming that gold sellers and powerleveling companies make use of these free proxies to hide their IP's, meaning legit users who are seen using the same IP's get banned.

I hope my assumption is correct, as I am going to use Gamemax again tonight and will be really really pissed if I get another 72 hour suspension and miss the entire weekend WoW session >.<
 
Ye thats it, free services will always attract bad folk. Someone mentioned somewhere else on this forum that Gamemax's userbase is probably too small and goes undetected, until now. Hopefulle they whiteflag it so we can have more happy days
 
Yes Jase, I was unsuspended on this past Saturday at like 23:00.

I phoned them on Friday to try and get them to lift it, but the guy couldn't.

So I couldn't play with my friends that I had recruited, and I couldn't recruit one other guy, meaning he just went straight to the full game - no 3x XP or any of that.

I was, highly annoyed, to put it lightly.
 
I am having no issues with this service....in fact I find it extremely useful.
I get around 220ms on my unshaped account and 320 on my shaped account.

Yea... Blizzard will band you for rapidly changing IP addresses.... but you will have to be changing them really quickly for them to notice...

There have at times been situations where I have forgotten to activate my "proxycap" software which enables tunnelling of the wow client through gamemax, and only after about 30 mins have I realized this ... I log out and relog this time using the proxy... I still have not (touch wood) received a "suspension" from Blizzard. I have been using this service for about 4 months now...

I justify GameMax like this... I do not go out and drink a R1000 a weekend.... I do not spend R3500 (like I used to) on XBOX360 and PC Games...

I want the best possible gaming experience when I play wow, so to do that I will pay for my 4meg line, 2 gigs of Unshaped (could even get away with 1gig) and a Gamemax account... This all still comes in way under my old habbits...

Gamemax's issues are unfortunately out of their control. The service is at the mercy of the various hosting ISP's. Do a traceroute to see the various locations... The guys at gamemax are constantly trying to optimize these routes, and when one of their "nodes" has a power-failure (yes Asia has power failures too) we feel it...

Still Gamemax is good service for anyone who has an unshaped account and wants to achieve even better pings.

I find the biggest jump and best results are for the unshaped accounts. I went from 550ms-700ms to 220ms.
On my shaped account I went from 700ms-900ms to around 320-480ms.

To maximize your ping they have provided 3 sets of proxies. All you need to do is ping these, discover which one is best and use it...

kimberly.gamemax.org (for unshaped this one is my choice)
denise.gamemax.org (this one is good for shaped and unshaped)
pamela.gamemax.org (this one usually gives me trouble)

Ok, the results are in - here is what Blizzard had to say after reviewing my case:

Thank you for your e-mail. Following an investigation into actions taken against this account we believe this account may have been accessed via a Proxy Service.

We appreciate there are circumstances when use of a Proxy can be beneficial however such services are routinely used to attempt to hide the actions of Online Trading companies and users attempting to use exploitative third party programs. As such, we do not support the use of Proxy services and if you continue to use these, we regret that this may result in further suspensions placed on your account.

I can't play without proxies, just not gonna cut it. Sticking to one server on Gamemax now and hoping for the best.
 
gamemax and other such proxys works for some dont for others some QQ over them some prayse them makes you think doesnt it....

Yes, well done for reading the post /sigh

I think the service is great, reality is I got suspended using it. I will continue to use it until they completely ban me, cause frankly, PVP is not possible in WoW from SA without a proxy.

I get your post 100% and I 2 enjoyed stunlocking people on my rogue on 200ms on gamemax but what we need is some thing thats 100% safe and 100% reliable cos we all wanna enjoy our gamein experiance
 
I guess everyone's mileage will vary as I have never had a problem. I have used a combination of Gamemax (normally switch between the 3 servers), direct, YourFreedom and PingFu.

At the moment I only use Gamemax and a direct connection if running Wintergrasp.

Started using proxies about a year ago and too never had trouble, till now...

Guess it's a gamble.
 
Imaginet + reg fix restored my faith in raiding. Getting <400ms solid with ventrilo on 25man hardmodes for 4hours nonstop. Time to start thinking up excuses for the GF again...
