So, I've been testing streammygame.com a few days aggo, streaming The Witcher and Two Worlds to my PS3 (Linux) which pops it onto my TV and I could use my PS3 controller (or the key/mouse connected to my PS3) to control the game. Only problem is that you need to pay to go to a higher than 640x480 stream and the sound was nopt very good (dunno if the sound was problem with encoding, my PC, or PS3 linux drivers). Anycase.. It's a much more fun to lay on the couch and play these games with a gamepad. So I figure why not just move the PC to the livingroom and hook up a good gamepad.

Now.. what gamepad would you guys recommend?
I need something that got software (control center) where you can bind the pad's buttons and thumbsticks to your mouse axis and buttons, and keyboard keys.

I like the XBOX 360 gamepad for PC. Logitech also have some good ones that come with their own software i.e. wingman.

Games that support gamepads will normally have ingame options for the buttons/keys.

You see thats the thing, there are some games that do not have support and in that case I would like to map say A trigger to my keybiard button W, etc. so that I dont needa use a keyboard and mouse - not so comfortable if you wanna lay on couch and play ;)

Logitech Rumblepad 2 yo usay? Cool, I'll check it out.

I had a Cordless Rumblepad 2, when it died after many years of service, I replaced it with a XBOX360 controller.

I would readily recommend them both.

Can you bind the xbox360 controller's sticks and buttons to mouse axis and keyboard keys? I weant to get an zbox360 eventually so then the controller could be used for both.

You might try something like xpadder or the alternative XBCD driver.

i use a logitech chillstream. its just like the xbox 360 controller but has air vents too.

I grabbed a copy of xpadder and some PS3 controlller driver and it works great :D
Now I don't haveta look at other controllers.

You know how some controllers feel really cheap do the logitechs feel like this. I know that the xbox controller feels really good

my logitec gamepad game still working after 2 years +; those rock :)

-i have been thinking to get a xbox one aswell...

I must say those Logitech Rumble pad 2's are great .... had one for many years now and no problems. If anything can survive my sons grubby, chocolate covered hands then it gets my vote ... and the Rumblepad did just that.

I now have 2 rumblepads and a logitech xbox chillstream ... I love that chillstream ... my hands are very sweaty during playing games and this baby works beautifully.

My final thought is that if you can afford it - get a xbox type controller (Logitech Chillstream) and a Rumblepad 2. I find myself alternting between these two depending on the game.
