There was a statement about gaming/gamers these days by Maestro (i think, irrelevant who it was), so I just thought i'll share what is happening on the PS3 forum and wanted to post the links (couldn't find anything against this in the rules, but please let me know and i'll remove the links)...

The community started a game give-away where ordinary members on the forum give away games that they don't play anymore in really interesting (and sometimes not so interesting) ways...we've had close to 30 give-aways already

Game Give-away thread

#29 Give-away - A pass on of one of the first games I gave away...

Far more impressive - We had a forum member whose home was broken into this week and among the things taken was his TV's and PS3. The community immediately got together and did this in under 4 hours...

Response to Jacque's break in

I just thought it would be nice to show that gamers do really care...I really think that the PS3 forum is closer than most, but it's a reflection of gamers and humans in general and we should all take something away from it...

They stole my PS3 a while ago as well. If everyone here can donate R100 to me, I'll be able to buy one again and maybe even buy Uncharted 2 as well.

PM me for banking details.

;)

LOL, stand in line...

its nice when random people help others, not only gamers but just in ordinary day to day, as i get older it feels nice to help others, and not want anything in return.

Well the same spirit was on MyBB years ago until they stumbled on a major scam to defraud willing givers to someone in "peril".

Will the same happen again on the PS3 forum if there are at least one victim a week?

I got broken into this weekend, they stole my 105 inch Bravia, and my Alienware pc, /beg. :D

I am a member at the ps3 forum and i can say its a wonderful place,Good to know people will go all out to help one another.I only had one problem with a product i bought from somebody but its minor:D

Hahaha...i'm sorry, i'm trusted (with payments) but lousy with collections ....Dex(i think) had a copy of VT3 i bought for like 6 months, he got so uncomfortable i had to go fetch it...I'm not young like you (wife said so), so my week'ends are totally different...least studying for this year is done and only 1 more national trip ...

@IAP : We all know what it is like to be scammed, but we also know what it is like to be robbed...if anyone reasonably knows and trusts the person then it's easy to give. It's really only a R100 a person, i think everyone would say just the attitude shown by the members are to be commended, no one cared to question him(although i'm sure some thought about it) because it's not what is important....

If you do a search on teh forum, you find at least 2 scam threads in the last month, 1 that includes a member from teh forum, so it's not like we not exposed to it...

Let me just put it this way to you guys...if you get hijacked in a late evening and not 1 car stops on the highway in 2 hours...you'll understand the logic of the 100's that just passed by cos you could have been a 'scammer', but you'll really appreciate that 1 person that stops and assists....sometimes it's just right to do a good thing...

Too many people involved in scams. I won't trust something like this. I often see ads on Gumtree about some poor dude looking for a cheap PS3 / Xbox for his kids, with some sob story about how they saved for months now, but only have R1000. Or their previous one was stolen and they don't have the money to replace it. Then you check the other ads for the same person who posted it, and 9 times out of 10, he has similar ads running.

My jet was hijacked this weekend. Can you guys help me out? If 3 million people send me R100 each I can replace it.

They would actually be more believable and more likely to get something if they asked for a ps2 or any old gaming system for their kids - not 4K worth of electronics - will they then ask on gumtree each week for a new game as well becos they can't afford to buy them. I wonder if any one has actually been taken by this scam. That would be a hoot!

So you see, that's community, that's friends and that's the world we live in...just being blunt...not every individual has the fear of sharing or giving because of being scammed...Maybe you're just cynical, maybe you've been scammed too many times or maybe you're paranoid...many South African's are so paranoid that they become prisoners of what they actually fear...don't go out at all because of the crime, so they sit in the home like the prisoners they are avoiding...

I'm sorry, but with the attitudes of many people today, it's obvious why the world is getting better so slowly...remember the cliche about evil flourishing when good men do nothing...just because you didn't steal it, doesn't mean we don't have a role to play to make it better...anyways, i've realised through my 30 something years that the people that felt it heavy to give also found it hard to understand why bad things happened to them...maybe because they always have the notion..."It's not me, i don't know if it's a scam...it won't happen to me so i don't have to worry" til it does...then it's all questions and praying...

ok the free repair of psp's last week is over is over.I cant believe i only repaired one psp last week after i posted free repairs for 1 week.Amusingly or amazingly other people never contacted me,i mean it was free.....damn yes like it.Anyway the one person is very happy with his repair. He came from afar :D

That's awesome dablakmark...as i said, it's not what happens, it's the intention..and great offer..nothing wrong with any of the PSP's I own otherwise i would have made use of your service...who knows, that one person that might decide to "pay it forward" will help 100 people....all starts with small steps...good on you!

I'll make an effort to give you a +rep!
