Does anyone know if there are ANY retail or online shops in SA that sell games for mac? dont quite have the internet connection to download 6gb for a game... :(

Don't we have a local Steam server? Maybe access it via a university or something if you have access to one.

Edit: You can copy a PC version of someones steam folder over to your mac and when it downloads your new purchase many of the files will already be there making the download much smaller. I did that with CSS.

Steam games are available and Portal 2 will be released in April. Sims 3 works. Starcraft 2 can be bought and works on pc and mac.

Alternatively.. you can play Windows games in Bootcamp.. WORKS much better than a PC running Windows :) haha

Not keen on the bootcamp, moved away from windows onto macros a reason, but downloading civ5 on steam now and black ops from TPB to see how it goes...

the1lumpster, it’s interesting that you post this because I am in the process of creating an Apple gaming website for South Africas. You can take a look at it here: Mac Gaming
The first reviews will be up within the next 2 weeks as well as the final site version (I’m just working on the theme atm).

For local sellers, I can confirm that these games are dual-install (Mac and PC):
  • Diablo II and expansion
  • WarCraft III and expansion
  • World of WarCraft and expansion
  • The Sims 3
  • StarCraft 2
  • Desktop Dungeons

I'm a little miffed because our Dragon Age: Origians isn’t dual.

If you’re looking at downloads (I would suggest uncapped ADSL account for this) then look at these sites:
GameTree Mac
Steam
Feral Interactive (I cannot remember if these are downloads, but they do have demos)
Also do not forget the Mac App Store

thanks, taking a look around at the moment, looks great, a definite bookmark! :)

oh, when you say "dual-install" does that mean i can take windows disk and pop it in the drive and it would work or is it separate disks that are needed?
