It was a really cool thing to watch!
But it got me thinking... And obviously this is my view based on being an 80's kid who grew up playing side scrollers on Dos and things like that. It FEELS (and yes feelings are heavily biased) that games back in the day were more focused on passion and making something cool than turning profit. They did make money but it was ALMOST like a byproduct.
Now the big studios have backers/investors/shareholders that want their pound of flesh... psychologists get brought in to make the mechanics addictive etc.
Thoughts? Opinions?
