hi jack
So my MB got struck by thuneder again. So instead of forkin out R2400 for a new MB (Thunder took my onboard network card out) or claimin from the house insurance I was just gonna get a wireless network card. Now my question : will I get the same network speeds whit wireless that I got whit a network cable ? If you take into account my PC is abount 7-10 meters away from wireless router and there is a solid brick wall in between

Your Ping will definitely be higher though not sure if there is workaround for this

You are stil gona loose router if it is hit again.so unplug telkom cable (safest way)
or if u worry about latency you can try fiber converters.no spikes can go thru optic cable and there is R200 short distance units availible(when i checked last) the problem is splicing the fiber cable and pigtails.

and as for speed the fastest telkom internet is equal to the coax cables we used 15 years ago with terminators and tee pieces.unles u wana copy over lans anything faster than 4Mb/s is faster than the internet.10Mb/s if u lucky and exchange supports it.all adsl routers is 100Mb/s new pc ethernet is 1000Mb/s

ping the wifi router, u will get like 2ms at most, consistently, if 2ms makes it 'higher' than yeah its unacceptable, if you can somehow notice it, then you should become some scientist since no normal person can notice 2ms difference when playing things like wow or any other online game.

The ping will be exactly the same, I permanently game from my wireless and there isn't even a extra millisecond added to my overall latency. The myth that wireless adds extra latency is hogwash unless you have really bad signal.

I'm sitting about 15 meters from my access point and have a average 108mbps connection to the network.

I use a DLink ADSL Wireless N router, with a Linksys USBN600 adapter from about 15m away, with some very frikkin thick walls between me and the router and I have no latency issues other than the distance I am from the server I am playing on at the time.

My current linkspeed is 162Mbps, and when the slower clients disconnect it is in the 200Mbps range.

Wow you lucky then dude

My normal ping on HON is about 26 on wifi this goes to 90-260

Maybe its my router though, as my network card is awesome :D
