I read somewhere that this World Cup would probably be remembered for bad ref choices and cheating. I obviously haven't followed every game - but which had these blatent cheats and bad choices?

I know of :

South Africa vs Uruguay (dive and penalty against us)
Ghana vs Uruguay (volleyball)
Germany vs England (disallowed goal)
USA vs Slovenia (disallowed goal)

Mexico Argentina - Tevez offside
Brazil Ivory Coast - ***a red card

Don't forget Germany vs Serbia 37 mintues into the game 9 yellow cards included a double yellow which resulted in red. Then nothing there after.

Italy vs Slovakia - Linesmen sees player offside but is actually on side, subsequently Slovakia goalkeeper punches Quagliarella in the face with linesmen in position to see the offence...

I think a few more players should have been carded for over - reacting. Did you see how many guys seem to roll over in utter angony or hold their face (trying to stem invisible blood flows) at the slighest touch by an opposition player. Ok! there were a few genuine cases........... But a lot of well built guys go down like panzies!
And when a free kick is awarded - they miracously recover to even take the kick!

Paraguay had an onside goal declared offside against Spain
The Spanish penalty had to be retaken, cause of players entering the box before the kick was taken - players did the same when Paraguay missed their penalty and it wasnt retaken..

How do you figure that? The first guy who jumped was offside and interfering with play, how was that goal not offside?

How was he interfering with play?
He never obscured the vision of the keeper nor came close to touching the ball?

Even the commentator said it was the wrong decision

You must have listened to the wrong commentator then. Initially that was his first though and then only afterwards he noticed the flag on the other side and a replay confirmed the offside. The ruling was correct. Live with it!

Ruling was correct as he did make an attempt to play the ball, if he did nothing then it would be incorrectly judged.

But I agree on the penalty that Paraguay took where 3 of the spanish players rushed the box in an attempt to clear any rebound.

The penalty should have been retaken

That dive would be the keeper going in feet first would it?

Real diving - well that's Spain's territory. And bad refs - Australia/Germany, Germany/Serbia, Brasil/Ivory Coast to add to your list.

South Africans point of view... Contact is contact, as minimal as it was, there was contact. So the ref made the right choice with the red and the penalty.. The fact that the linesman missed an offside, thats what peole are crying about.

To "interfere with play" means that the attacker must touch the ball or make a play for the ball. As much as I hate Spain, the goal Paraguay scored was offsides.
