Hey guys

I was just browsing around and started reading up about these gaming glasses. Now im not thinking about getting these...if someone saw me in them i think id die from shame.

I'm just wondering how much of a difference they can really make? Its just a lens you buy off the shelf with the yellow/amber tint and then they still charge you $99.99.

One of my colleagues is actually supposed to always use that when he's viewing from screens.

I'm not even sure if it is polarized. I actually doubt that it is. So $100 seems to be quite a lot actually.

I haven't used my colleagues' glasses yet, so I can't tell you if it is worth it yet. Perhaps I'll give them a run some time next week.

C'mon, the thing to ask if it really works, not what it looks like when you are gaming, Kidz!

Go see an optometrist, they will make you a custom pair with uv coatings and all the bells and whistles, your medical will pay for it and you get to chose your own style.

My normal glasses have most of those things built in. So I can read and look at a monitor for a lot longer without getting tired.

It does help me... but it might be because I have eye problems anyway.

If you don't have eye problems im not sure how much this will help... if at all.

NERDIEST.THING.EVER

What is nerdy about them though? it sounds kinda interesting, are they available in SA yet, read some review and they are all good.

I struggle badly with dry eyes and these could help

Shyte if this available in SA i am gonna get them, i sit in front of a pc most of the week and my eyes take serious strain then i get home and jam bf 3 for a few hours.

I could care less if people think this is nerdy, if people live their lives worrying about what is nerdy then they are stupid. Gaming used to be for nerds now everyone plays games. Owning a computer was considered nerdy, now we rely solely on computers for just about everything.

I gotta admit the 1k price tag is high but they look awesome. I have read many reviews and i have yet to read one that has bad thing to say.

if they help for eye strain/eye tiredness them i might consider getting some. Gona do a lot of reading up first, read some reviews and the like

zaps resells gunnar unless you have dealership with frontosa.co.za

They're generally the same thing as night driving glasses. I drive long distance, generally at night; they really do help with glare off trucks and such. They're generally just polycarbonate with an extra coating of some extra UV filter. You'll notice some pairs cost a whole load more, most of those will be polarized too (which is kinda nice for graphics work). If you're using multiple displays or working at night, they help quite a bit, but I wouldnt recommend blowing cash if you're not feeling like an experiment.

If you want to save a good bit, you can find a pretty solid selection of night driving/'computer glasses' from Mitsubishi chemicals on Amazon. From what I'm told, they are the producers of Gunnar's non-prescription stuff, so you might as well cut out the middleman.

Lastly, I'd suggest going with some big ass lenses, don't go for the squares etc, you'll only force yourself to sit far back, or letterbox your display (if you're using something above like 20"). Screw looks, go with functionality.

It might cause problems with LCD panels if it's polarized.

Its not snake oil. Its just being sold at a high price as something that will enhance your experience.

It wont... its more protective than anything else.
