Hi Guys,

I'm having trouble deciding what to get...I have a budget of around R1200+-. Should I go all out for a gaming headset and what? Or should I go for cheaper headset (looking at the Steelseries 4H/Razer Carcharias/what else should I be looking at?) and get a better mouse (got a logitech MX400 atm)?

Any help would be appreciated...
Thanks

Okay, clearly you like sound, considering you are wanting a new headset. Might I suggest, then, that you look into a new soundcard first? I assume you are using your integrated sound at the moment, so maybe look at getting something like the Soundblaster X-Fi? Because at the end of the day, you could fork out R2k for a gaming headset and it would still sound crappy with integrated sound.

If you've got a decent soundcard, I would recommend going with Razer, myself. I trust their gaming peripherals implicitly. As for the mouse, it really depends on what you are using it for? FPS, RPG, RTS? What is your drug of choice? If you just use it for RTS and WoW, I would go with one of the Razer gaming mice, however if you use it for FPS, you're gonna want something with more buttons...

I've got an Audigy value atm, does that make the grade or should I seriously consider upgrading?

FPS (Mainly COD) is what I play mostly. Was looking at the G500/G9, but they are a tad expensive considering other brands like Razer. Only problem is I don't know their mice or any other brands (other thatn logitech) for that matter...

The thing about gaming mice is that everyone has their own preference, one can't really be told what mouse they should use. I, for example, use the A4tech X-7 because it suits me perfectly - it is extremely light, can switch between 6 different DPI settings on the fly, and has a total of 6 buttons. The thing is, some people prefer a mouse with set DPI, or a weighted mouse. It really depends on what your personal preferences are. I play at 1600 DPI with an un-weighted mouse. If you're looking for something heavy, Logitech is the way to go, however if you prefer a light mouse, Razer is probably best.

Thanks man...know of any shops that stock gaming mice? kind of want to have them in my hand before buying one...

I'm also looking for a new mouse atm. I'm torn between the razer death adder and the cyber snipa stinger. So far I'm leaning towards the cyber snipa because of the weights (7x 20g), buttons (9), DPI (Up to 3200 DPI) and price (around R400). Shape also looks comfy, not to crazy about the colour scheme though, but I'm not gonna let that affect my decision.

here is a review of it: http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/cyber_snipa_stinger/

If I had to buy a new mouse now I'd get the logitech G500.

I'm just waiting until new year, then grabbing a Coolermaster sentinel advance. Why not check out the Roccat mice/mouses?
