I want to buy a headset with a mic to use with left 4 dead.
i dont want anything fancy or expensive, but something that will work and is decent. "more bang for buck" or something like that.

can you guys maybe give me a brand and where i can buy it in JHB west rand area???

I bought a cheap arse headset at Hifi corp over the weakend.

It's pretty damn good for only R 160. Comes with a mic and the sound is pretty damn nice. The make I think it's "YoData" I plugged it in and it's pretty good. Not AMAZING but I got way more than what I paid for

It does, you can buy the version with a clip-on.

It's not the best quality mic when there's other loud noises in the room (eg two people sitting and playing in the same room), but the headset itself delivers much better quality sound than my R1500 Razer Barracudas..

I have both, and I ONLY play with the Razer's at LANs.

i bought something like this a year or so back - not exactly the same, but that brand. was at Matrix warehouse for about 200 bucks or so - still working and not that bad. It's got a bendy Mic too. If you're gonna spend close to R550 or R600 go for the brands these guys mentioned, but for R200 this isn't such a bad deal

Sennheiser make the best ones though, If you're ok with spending a little more. a lot of them don't have mic's though.

hey guys, thanks all for your advice and opinions, i went to matrix warehouse yesterday to see what they had and got me this Cyber Snipa http://www.cybersnipa.com/us/products/sonar-gaming-headset.php headsets for only R199... cheap and decent.
Cyber snipa has great gaming gear, i bought myself this http://www.cybersnipa.com/us/products/stinger-gaming-mouse.php mouse in December and is great.

I'm using a sennheiser headset which has never given me any problems.

And as for the cyber snipa mouse, I'm ashamed to admit that I own one (the name is just awful). Best mouse I've ever owned, though.

i would love to get a sennheiser headset... just hell expensive.

Got the CyberSnipa 5.1 set, what a gimic..

They are comfy, but don't work propperly. Trying to get the mic to work is aweful. USB bandwidth issues, changed ports confirmed USB 2.0 and still not working propperly. No real help on website either.

Generally a big dissapointment

Though .. that surround sound headset was freaking awesome for a good 3 months before it gave up on me.

But, at that price, 3 months is too short a life-span.

So, sennheiser is the shiz ... thanks.
