After a decade my office/gaming chair is on its last legs, and I am trying to find a replacement. Ultimately, I would like to try out the chair first. Does anyone know where this is possible in the Cape Town area?

Also, I would also appreciate any recommendations for specific chairs.

How heavy are you?

I was about to recommend looking at the Herman Miller Aeron Remastered chair from AllOffice - went to get the link only to discover:

Our Chapter with Herman Miller Has Come to An End

We’ve had a great journey with Herman Miller but after careful consideration we’ve decided that
we will no longer be selling their products.

We have a large range of products and ergonomic furniture to help you work well, live well and be well.

Sucks. They had the best price when I did my homework before.

Gaming chairs are overrated. Rather get an actual ergonomic chair that's built for 24/7 ass sitting

Try the following

Their service is excellent they are Jhb based, but may be able to assist you in CT. Speak to Adel.

They're nothing more than an uncomfortable car seat on wheels. As mentioned rather go with an ergonomic chair especially if you're gonna spend hours on it...

I like your thinking. Where did you get the seat (and the base)? Similar cheap seats used to sell for around R600 years ago from Autostyle but can't find under R1500 now.
The base I had. Part of the "ultra sturdy" frame of the "amazing quality", and expensive gaming chair I had broke. I can't even remember now where I bought the seat from. Found one I like online, and bought it. The seat was not cheap new, but still cheaper than the full gaming chair I had been considering (anxiously in the knowledge that it would likely be just another uncomfortable, overpriced hunk of garbage).

I do subscribe to the notion that most gaming chairs are cheaply produced gimmicks designed to look a certain shape.

However, after much tribulation, I got a decent deal on the Cougar Armor Titan Pro Royal Gaming Chair. Thats a mouthful, but this is the best chair I have ever had. For someone around 130kg this is going to suit you pretty well I think. Highly doubt you will find many physical stores that stock it, so it was a hard purchase for me, but just go youtube the reviews and build videos etc. Its pretty unanimous feedback.

You can get it cheaper at places like Evetech I believe but I've never used them.

Why would you put a racing seat on an office bound chair? Are you expecting to experience lateral G's like in a racing car? If not why do that to your shoulders? Or is the hunchback of Notre Dame your idea of peak physical appearance?

To feel like you're racing a car while playing COD...
