Hi,
I was wondering if it would be possible to play games (FarCry, HL2 etc) on a HD LCD TV. Since the connection is digital this should work in theory but I think there might be an issue with the refresh rate of the TV.

Will work. Just get Full hd tv and a GFX card with HDMI out.

A dvi to hdmi adapter would also probably work.

Grr, My girlfriend doesn't want me to connect my pc to my LCD tv, cause then she can't watch tv and it doesn't look neat. :p

Better have a good vga card as well.

Do you need a card for a larger TV?

I'm running my PC on my 42" plasma - just the web - with the built in graphics. Will it be better with a card?

I have my PC hidden in cupboard - don't even know it's there ;) Only issue it gets a little lound :(

Well your 32's resolution is 1366 x 768, most new 40+ lcds are 1920x1200 which will push any graphics card.

Hey i am jamming my pc on a 42" lcd tv and its awsome IMO

No not if your not going to gaming, but gaming a 42" inch lcd i would imagine would need a rather good card.

Basicly you need a card that can play games on a 24" (1920x1200).
Most 42" are the same resolution.

HAHA,
these type of things does have a very high WAF. (wife acceptance factor)

It's cool for watching the downloaded serieses and movies, but the high resolution and low refresh-rate gives me a headache after a while of playing games.

I have found that if I put the res om my pc tp 1360x768 and watch series, it is full screen. :D

Yeah, I only have a HD Ready TV. :o

yes that's the native resolution of my LCD too.
it's better if you sit closer to play games.

I have a 32" 720p LCD tv which works best on 1024x768.

I have an old 3000+ athlon and a 8600GT gfx card, with dmi - hdtv cable.

games like BF2 / farcry2 / WoW / COD / etc. all work marvellous.

I have an old 17" crt on the side for sh1ts and giggles.

The only down side is that everytime I switch my tv off and back on while the pc is still running, i often have to go into settings and reactivate the screen. I have my xbox1 plugged into the SCART input on the side so whenever a game is loading or whatnot, i can squeeze in a lap or two of burnout :D

So how much of an issue is the refresh rate thing?

What is a LCD TV compared to a LCD 22" Mon??
