Hey guys,

so with the current move towards uncapped DSL solutions people seem to be hopping from ISP to ISP, based on the p2p shaping / throttling in peak times etc. but how do these solutions actually perform with regards to gaming? To what degree are gaming ports throttled and at what times? And what ISPs are better/worse in this regard?

It would be useful to get experience from different ISP users here so we can decide on the best solution for a combination of downloading and gaming.

I am at Amobia wireless and used the unshaped capped service which is great for gaming tbh. Yesterday I switched over to shaped uncapped and so far I cant see any difference in my gaming... still no lag, downloads are still as fast etc... I will have to test it during office hours though to see how it performs. I suppose it really depends on the ISP as different ISPs will shape different traffic.

I get a ping of about 380ms to the Starcraft 2 servers. Its not great but you dont get much better on unshaped anyways.

I am also uncapped on Afrihost 384kbs. My gaming is fine.

I usually get 60-90 ping on Cod4. I am having some troubles with downloading though....

After the 10gig limit hows your gaming speeds then.
