Hi Guys!

So at the moment I sort of have a decent gaming pc, but I want a bit of an upgrade!

Here's my stats:

IPMSB-H61 Motherboard

2Gb of Ram x2

1tb Hard drive + 250 Gb Hard drive

Asus Radeon 6870 1Gb

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz

Samsung S23A950D

And I think I have a 700w Power Supply!

So I'm quite happy with my monitor! But I think I would like to get a SSD and move out the 250Gb hard drive, but obviously not to big, I just want to run the operating system on It.... I would definitely need some advice on how to do that :D Then I think I would like to go for a new graphics card, maybe I could have 2 of the same and join them.. I have no idea what its called, its somewhere in my head :) I do like the Radeon 7870 or 7970... But I'm wondering If they're going to release the 8000 series anytime soon? Definitely more RAM, maybe 8gb or a bit more..
Then to join the two graphics cards I guess I have to get a new motherboard as mine isnt compatible, but now should I get a new processor? Or is this alright? My PC is quite fast at the moment so I don't complain.. But my brother needs a new PC, so I will most likely give him my old stuff!

Do you guys have any suggestions or good prices? etc...

Thanks

Oliver

Definately upgrade your RAM and go for the the SSD. Good choices both and will make a huge difference in terms of your usability experience.

CPU is more than enough, you won't get any gaming benefit by upgrading.
GPU... well... doing crossfire is gonna cause significantly more heat and noise so unless you have a case with very good cooling then I'd stay clear. Also the 6870 is a pretty beefy beast so exactly what games are you not able to play on max settings at the moment?

I won't recommend going for CrossFire (multiple graphics cards), because they'll:
* consume more power
* generate more heat
* require a bigger case
* require an expensive motherboard that is CrossFire compatibile
* require the same chipset/graphics card models to work in CrossFire

Rather just sell your current one and upgrade to an HD7970 or something like that.

I'll definitely recommend upgrading to 2x 4GB or 2x 8GB of RAM. Look for the cheapest DDR3 1600MHz CL9 1.5V that you could find.

As for the SSD, look at the OCZ Vertex 4 128GB.

The shops that I'll recommend for cheap prices & good service are Wootware and Rebeltech. Rebeltech just took a knock just before Christmas due to a car accident - so perhaps just avoid them for the next 2 weeks or so till they recover.

Thanks, I just have one more question! What would improve the loading time of games e.g. League of Legends etc.. As well as boot time and browsing the pc! Im going to go for an SSD but what size? ( I just want to run windows on it and a few games ) as I already have a Tb Drive.. And then how would I set it up to do that? Just windows + Few games, all other programs like Adobe and Microsoft office to go onto my other hard drive!

Thanks

You'll need at least a 128GB SSD, both for space and speed.
Some games are really massive - like BF3 (28GB).

So I'd recommend the OCZ Vertex 4 128GB.
