What is the point of a tri core when most games only use a dual core

Not the best argument i have heard .

Well because games show an improvement from two cores to three but no improvement from 3 cores to four.

AMD's Athlon X4 620 is out. It has similar performance to the Q8200 but costs about R1200.

Isn't the 6MB L3 cache disabled on the Athlon X4's?

That would be an awesome budget chip if you can unlock it.

Nah. Get the Phenom2 720. It'll last you much longer. As even now games use 3cores.

If you go 775 you'll have no upgrade path. 775 is dead.

Only if the newer AMD CPUs were on par with the current Intel 775 CPUs or the Intel CPUs were dead when there's no newer C2D to upgrade to...like the Q8xx or Q9xxx, but there's so many in the market!
