So I don't have gap cover and my mom is serving notice prior to retirement, so we both need gap cover.

What are some good options out there?

I'm with Admed.. just did my first claim and other than lengthy time to process claim, can't complain.. haven't had any other gap cover though, so don't have anything else to compare with..

Took about 3 weeks from submitting claim until they paid out..

Edit: they also did not expect me to pay out of pocket and then claim back..

Syrago. Never had to claim before, but my mother's had to. No issues.

There was a site that compared all of them...

Personal preference Xelus - 5 times medical aid rates.

I'm also with Sanlam ( administered by Xelus) .

I claimed about 4x times and they paid out BUT I had to lodge a formal complaint once and waiting times are looong.

Wont recommend them - see all negative reviews(mine included) on HelloPeter.

I feel to be able to recommend a certain provider one has to have experience with a claim. Absolutely zero credibility pushing a company if they have only been taking your money up to date with no claims

I deal with these companies on a daily basis and have had no issues with Xelus in getting a claim paid vs the others. some have too many back and forth before paying a claim.

I also deal with specific people that are assigned to me by these companies, more like relationship managers so therefore my experience might be skewed.

Zestlife here. And they've always been quick to pay. I almost think they are probably the most expensive.. Been considering changing, and each time I find that they seem to be the best.

We are with Westernins. Claimed only once. Took a long time to pay back. R500.00 PM for me and my wife. Looking for cheaper rate, but age is the big issue here.

Same.

Claimed twice for +- R14k and R4k respectively.
No issues.

They are quite pricey but they've already paid out more than my total monthly premiums to them over the past 5 years with no issues.
