So i moved into a new house in Feb this year with a MUUUUCH bigger garden than was i used to. I have not really had to work in a garden before so i am still trying to figure things out.
This winter has been brutal to my plants and grass so i am just trying to sort things out.
Do you have have tricks and tips + suggestions for getting my garden up to scratch?

you should see what my hibiscuses and fuschias look like after the cold snaps. it's really depressing. although my camelias and tulip magnolias are frikkin beautiful now. i guess it is now a good time to prune and tidy up while waiting for late august to go to the nursery and splash on a batch of new plants.

I really recommend the book Organic Gardening by Geoff Hamilton, it is the most extensive for the price and the quality of information really blows the competition away. The book covers the entire garden; flowers, trees, vegetables, etc. The cheap cloche system described in that book is great if you live in a really cold area.

As for helping plants get some force back, try vermicompost (earthworm droppings) and worm tea (earthworm "pee") if you can find some, its extremely potent and people have reported recovering dying plants with it.

Hope this helps
