I am looking at buying a "mapping" handheld GPS that will be primarily used outdoors, with the occasional need for routing in-car etc.

I have my eye on the Garmin eTrex Vista HCx and the Garmin 60CSx. Anyone have any experience with these units that they can share?

Also, I've noticed that the price of these units in the USA is DISGUSTINGLY cheap compared to South Africa. If I bought one from the States, can I change the basemap from USA to South Africa? Do I even need to do that? Can I simply pick up a copy of the Garmap SA software and I'm good to go?

Thanks in advance for any tips/advice.

Best place to find out would be the forums over at Garmap , but it seems that the site will only be back from June 2
