Just got this from Garmin. I logged a call requesting info on a Android version of Mobile XT:

Thank you for contacting Garmin Europe.
Unfortunately there will be no more updates software or Mapping released for the mobile XT range the last version that was released for Europe was 2009 before the product was fully discontinued. Please understand that as a company we are continually innovating and striving to design the next product. This means that we can continue to offer cutting edge technology. With the advances in technology, none of our products can be made future proof and eventually will become an unsupported/discontinued product at some point.

What XT the hardware or the software?

Do you think they will then have no application for mobile phones?

If that is so, then that is very short sighted as mapping and GPS on mobile phones is gonna hurt their GPS device sales.
 
I know the mobile XT was very easy to pirate so that might have been hurting them.

I think Nokia's decision to offer free turn by turn mapping influenced their decision. Perhaps they should have continued support for older devices.
