hey there.
since nokia maps have that lousy 3 month trial, i decided to look around for another satnav software. In the end i settled for Garmin because of their detailed mapping but, because it costs a ton, I tried a hacked/cracked (lol, is that the term??:D ) version before I commit. Installed as best i could using the tutorials on this forum and I was up and running.

yet, all is not as it seems...I tried navigating from zululand to port shepstone and the icon (the arrow that represents the car) kept moving of the navigated route into a off road, non-existent path and then latching onto the first road it could. Apart from that, the navigation was a bit slow (telling me to turn exactly at the turn and not a few meters away to give me time)....could someone please tell me how to sort this out??

I have Garmin on N95, N95-2 and N82, and it works EXACTLY like my Nuvi. Are you sure you had a phone in a good enough position to get a decent signal?

Yeah, thats what my issue would be too. Make sure your signal is full, get one of those nice windscreen suction cup mounts. I have a N95 8GB, worx just as well as my friend's Nuvi 200W.

Did the N82 not come with the free 2 years of Nokia Maps like the 8gb N95?

thanks for the tips guys. things is, i do have on for those suction cup things (works great) and reception was full...guess I'll try reinstalling it and let you guys know.

I also thot that the N82 had 2yrs free nav...but stumped there too.

hey btw, did any of you guys try Mcguider sygic?? is it any good??

I got a N82 on Procall 120 with 2 years free navigation. Upgraded to Nokia Maps 2.0 & works like a charm.

hmmmm, i got mine with vodacom but i dont think that makes a diff right?? i formatted my memory stick and phone a couple of times, could that have caused it?? I thought it was just the upgrade to nokia maps 2..

Something similar happened to me. In my case it was because I loaded SA Streetmaps and T4A onto my phone and had both mapsets active.
I was baffled: My car appeared to be in the middle of nowhere at times and sometimes it displayed the street I was on yet Garmin still displayed the correct street names.

....did you change the active mapset afterwards?? did that rectify the problem?? I have the march 2008 southern africa mapset loaded but only sent the south africa bits to my N82 with the maploader.

do you own a N82 as well?? just askin cos I'm tryin to figure out if this problem is a handset thing or a software thing

No. I use an E90. Do you also get this strange behaviour if you use Nokia Maps?

@tallboy. No, not that i know of but the thing is that i havent used nokia maps all that long so i cant say for sure. Is the problem sorted out on your side though??

There never really was a problem since I had more than one active mapset on the phone. You can only have one active set in most cases.
I think the T4A maps were simply drawn over the SA Streetmaps on the Garmin XT display.

Hey i just got a N82 yesterday. Can sum1 plz tell me where i could download the GARMIN XT for this phone?

Thanx.
