Garmin Mobile XT on Nokia N8

Have anyone successfully installed Garmin Mobile XT on their Nokia N8?

I see it is possible and available (5.00.60) but I haven't tried it yet.

I'm still searching for a link for that version of Garmin Mobile XT.

The mapping solution on Nokia smartphones is OVI Maps. Very good (personally, I find it a bit better than my Garmin - it even calls out the street name into which you should turn etc.)
You shouldn't need Garmin.
Navteq is owned by Nokia, which develops the maps for Garmin. So not only will you have the latest maps, but free for a lifetime.
You also get live traffic updates (used - quite handy) - unavailable on the Garmin app.

Is there a reason you prefer Garmin?

+1 nokia ovi maps works rely well, i dont see the point of changing to something else
 
I had GMobileXT on my Nokia E75, and I much preferred the software.
The Nokia Software uses the internet to download the maps in real time, whereas the Garmin software (takes more space) stores the Southern Africa maps locally.

I am also trying to get my hands on GMobileXT for the N8.

Reasons to use Nokia Maps
- Can read street names
- Free with the handset
- Free updates etc.

Reasons to use Garmin
- My Garmin seems to use better routes (some Nokia routes have been very strange).
- Garmin search provides better results from my experience (sometimes when searching, ie if the app has not been used for x amount of k's, the destination will appear to be >x kilometres away, even if it might be just round the corner)
- Garmin has the speed trap updates.
- This morning, in driving from Rondebosch to Milnerton, Nokia maps reported that it used 4.1 mb, in terms of unbundled data, that would be R8.20 as far as I'm aware.

you can download the maps to the phone (the whole world if you want), with ovi and transfer it to you phone (i have done this) (the latest version with the phone if you using wifi) the speed camera thing there is a trial i havent had a chance to test it but will soon
also you can turn off the internet conecion with the current version of ovi maps.
the routes try changing the route selection from fastest to shortest or optimised.
try updating your ovi maps to v3.06
 
Negative.

OVI Maps allows the complete map download, and function - offline.
I have never used the phone online whilst navigating with OVI Maps.

No realtime map downloads. Ever.
I know this, as I'm on PAYG.

Perhaps you using an old version of "Maps" on your E75.
My N8 (with the latest update) warns me of the speed limit - so there's no need for a speed traps function (unless you like to straddle the fine line....), I've set up the routing such that it is as good as my Garmin.

Try setting up your OVI Maps on your N8 correctly - set to offline, set up your routing correctly.
