OK... I tried to read on the website, but it's very unclear...

https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=11413

I want to buy the Garmin XT software for my HTC Touch Diamond, but does it include the SA Maps? I see you can buy garmin XT for $99.

I also see that it comes on a miniSD card, but the HTC Diamond doesnt have a miniSD slot... Can I just download the Garmin software and install it on my 4GB internal memory?

You can go to Cape Union Mart and buy the Garmin DVD for R90, on there you will find the software for your HTC and a SA map.

as long as the hardware has a built-in gps. using it on my nokia e90, but it came with the software. had 2 pop out R990 after the trial to have it permanently. payment thru exactmobile, so u could find out from them on maps etc

You can install and hack garmin XT on the touch
A friend of mine managed to do this, virtually the same install as on the nokias

Well not exactly the same, PM me if you want to know how to do this

I have a HTC Touch Pro, I phoned leaf yesterday to ask if they had Garmin, they said that they sell it for R1090,00 . I guess I'll stick to amAze GPS for now its working pretty well, only reason that I wanted to get Garmin is because it has a good name and everyone says its supposedly the best software. Difference is, amAze GPS hasn't screwed up on me yet and its free.

R90 for Garmin and maps, that's very reasonable!

Thats just the price of the DVD... you have to buy a license to unlock the maps. All the other software is on the DVD - they don't make money out of the software but the maps.
See www.garmap.co.za for pricing on the SA maps.

The DVD contains Garmin XT as well as Mapsource and Garmin NRoute (use laptop with external GPS for navigation)

For some reason AmAze only shows 3 cities, Jhb,CT and Durban, so I can navigate anywhere else?that would suck...

The drop down box for cities only lists those 3 cities by default, however, the drop down box is also editable as a text field, so you can physically type in another city e.g. Pretoria and it will search and locate places in Pretoria.

By default it starts in CPT, but that doesnt mean it sees you in CPT.
It did the same for me and I'm in PTA.

Click on map-->street map then click Menu-->Map center on GPS. That should get the program centered to you provided that the phones GPS has been picked up by the satellites. There is a satellite icon on the top left of the screen, Red means that you haven't connected to GPS yet, Green means that you are communicating with the satellites and thus centering the map should work perfectly.

QuickGPS an application that gets a list of the GPS satellites and has your phone store the list, this allows your phone to get quicker locks to the satellites.

PS. Remember that both Nav4all and amAze require your GPRS Internet connection to be active in order to work.

Busy using TomTom 6. something on my Diamond, however the maps are not the latest...Busy downloading Nav4All
