So I have a little project Weber Go Anywhere that I picked up on marketplace recently, a bit rough shape still trying to have the enamelling redone. I would like to make it convertible to gas, and back to charcoal of course, for quick mid week outside cooking, note I did not call it braaing.

I bought one of these Megamaster active gas braai burners as it is a good fit for the Go Anywhere and only R200. The problem is that it does not come with the burner jet and I am having trouble finding one. Here is a picture of one in a Builders Warehouse

I have found some stuff on amazon that should work but just thought I would try asking locally

I will give them a call, not sure why they don't just have it on their online store.
Update:
That number did not work, phoned the head office (012 802 1515) and they will get back to me

"Gas" and "braai" don't belong in the same sentence unless you're talking about letting rip a cracker fart 2/3 of the way through a bottle of brandy.

You are assembling a gas stove without plates.
Thank you so much for the input

I am not sure where you are, but if you have a shop like this, they tend to have all the parts you need:

Edit: They are a physical store.

Not replacing my 4 non gas braais with this, just opening up the possibility to use gas in one of the 4. Pretty much to use as an outside stove as I don't much like using our electric stove in the kitchen for making burgers. It just happens to use the burner from a device that Megamaster calls a 'braai'.

By the time you stopped converting and fixing this, you could just as well have bought this
I know, I love these projects where I get a bargain Weber on marketplace then spend more than the value of a new one on it.

My R350 Smokey Joe. Started with some silver paint for the rusty legs, then stainless hardware. Then a lasercut stainless grid. Then the Weber Cover for it. Etc. Etc.

The megamaster is R2500. With the Weber I will have both a braai and an outside stove in one. That's what I tell myself atleast

This ended up being quite a long journey, I did order the regulator from Megamaster. It arrived without the actual injector/nozzle/jet. It then took about 3 months for them to get it from the manufacturer in China. They sent a second regulator with part I needed at no charge. Temporary washing machine drum burner covers.

To transform this from a plate less gas stove to a braai just unscrew the regulator hose from the burner and remove the burner from the Weber. 5 second conversion.

After all of this I realise, gas 'braaied' meat does not taste like braai at all. But that's ok as this is supposed to be a grill for burgers etc to keep the kitchen clean. So next step is a mild steel 5mm or thicker flat top griddle for smash burgers, camping breakfast etc. But not for braaing obviously, for that just remove the burner and make a real fire inside. Or use the burner as a gas starter for the fire

Hi!

I recently bought a secondhand Megamaster gas braai.

This one specifically:

Everything works well, but it does not have the flame tamers that originally came with:

The question is, should I purchase these, is it required? I'm very new to using gas as braai.

Thanks!
