Gas Water Geyser

Hi, living in Kensington, i was told that most people are having luke warm or cold baths as their water is not being heated due to low water pressure.
The counselor has advised the communities that the pressure has been turned down.
If i open the tap, to me the water seems high... but i might be completely wrong?
My gas pilot light stays on and when i open the HOT tap i do hear a hissing sound like you normally would BUt i see no BIG flame coming on so that it heats the elements/pipes.
Not sure when the pressure is coming back to life again in Kensington.
Or maybe water pressure is not the issue.
Do you know of ways to work around this problem and is it going to be expensive?
I dont understand why so much pressure is needed for the geyser to operate.
As i said, i open the tap and water comes out pretty string , according my liking.

I am suspecting the geyser is fine but no idea why this is a pain.

Please suggest commend assist thanks

Iv'e just attached pictures to show you which type of Geyser i have.
note that it is currently off as there is no point in running the pilot light.

When I had a gas geyser - more than ten years ago - the supplier recommended that the unit be serviced annually.

At the time the service - which included the replacement of all wearing parts - was relatively cheap,

Find out who sell and install them in your area

Thanks, maybe i can ask the counselor

there is a round knob on the geyser which i do not know what it does.It feels like it is currently turned clockwise fully.

One knob will be temperature
Other knob will be water flow maybe
Mark the position then start te play with them
The button with multiple flames that pushes in ?
Google pictures for your make / model

Look, your geyser needs to know when the water is flowing, so that it can switch the gas on to heat it.
Perhaps now with the very low pressure, the geyser is not "seeing" that a tap is open, as the pressure is already too low.

Hi , thanks for that Wug net user :)
It seems okay though when i open the tap it seems to flow okay.
I can also hear the gas geyser , the normal sound it makes when heats , but i dont see the bigger flame....
its like the flame is not coming on because of like you say, the pressure? or flow rate?
I dont believe it is faulty, but maybe should get a gas guy out to check?
Just tough not even having money for call outs
Plumbers and all these services are ridiculously priced.

Have a look at your insurance policy as there may be a SOS/Assist product that covers the first hour and call out.

We had the same thing, it just hisses but doesn't ignite.

We've needed to get a new pressure pump to boost the pressure, which is working but the pump is straining, which is why the old one packed up (the main header tank is about 50 meters away, so not enough pressure).
So busy installing a holding tank (1000L) close (can't have more than 10m suction) to the pump.

With just the addition of the pump, the gas geyser's working again, the second tank is just to protect the pump.

So if your water pressure has been turned down, this is probably the solution for you in the long run. (You can also hook up your gutters to the tank and get some free rain water, when it rains).
