My bike is leaking oil out of the engine and i found this Red Gasket Maker stuff at home. have any of you used this stuff and how does it work for you if you have? should i attempt to use it, i am no bike mechanic so it might be a risk i take.

Depends, how handy are you (mechanics wise) and do you have all the tools? I won’t use just the paste, get some veloniod (spelling??) and use that also.

oh hell maybe i should ask the missus to do it then. ha ha

hey womens lib and all that, they wanna be our equals, i already convinced her to leave the toilet seat up.

she also told me to get off the pc so she could do some research, so i puffed out my chest and in my strongest tone of voice said,....ok dear!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By gasket maker do you mean the tube with sealant ?

If so, go to any spare shop and buy a piece of Gasket paper or what ever. Take off the engine cover, smear it with a little oil on the part where the gasket must go. Press down on the paper and cut out accordingly. Once you have the actual gasket replacement, smeer the tube stuff and put the cover with the new gasket on.... all done ;)

its call RED Gasket Maker, i will have a look over the weekend and see what i can do, thanks man.

Ever consider getting a new gasket to replace the leaking one?

The gasket maker is fine in an emergency, but when it cures, the excess on the inside of your engine can break off and float around in your oil, potentially blocking off oil passages.

A new gasket should seal properly without any gasket maker. Even the cut-out ones, mentioned before, are better to use.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't use it, it works and can take the heat, but everything has it's compromise.

Anybody got change for a 5c?:D

Acctually, the gasket paper + gasket maker is acctually how they fix bike's.
You don't get a gasket set like in cars. (Except if it's an expensive bike, with really expensive parts) :D

Tap the profile out with a small hammer, and don’t use too much Red Indian, if you buy the right “paper” you won’t need it. Like a previous poster said, don’t get anything in the sump, or you will block a oil port, and you WILL lose the motor. ;)
