Hi ProAsm,

Great page...

I went around to a friend in Lonehill, but got no signal there. Is this tower live yet?

No [V]

Thanks... any ETA on that tower? Or even how many towers are infront of it in the queue?

Thanks a lot for the page ProAsm. I am going to get mywireless as soon as it is available int Cape Town. I live in the hilly area of Tygerberg. I have LOS to the Amanda glen tower in Durbanville. I estimate the distance to the tower is close to 4.5KM. So I want to get an antenna to boost my signal strength to get the lower pings and to lessen the effect of weather. I would just like to ask a few questions.

1. What type of connectors are used to connect the antennaeto the modem. Does the modem use an standard type of connector, or does it have to be made?

2. How does installation work, can I install an antenna myself or does it need to be installed by someone with the technichal knowlage/equipment?

3. Would the Pyonting broadband dish be enough to get me from 10% signal to over 45% so I can get lower pings.

4. What would the dish antenna cost +-. R500, R1000, R5000(hope not).

No idea on the Tower privet.

1. Its a very special connector which Fastcomm should have in stock by the end of March.
2. I'm sure by the time you need to install the antenna there will be others to help you if you don't know yourself by then.
3. To calculate the antenna results you can use approx:
(Modem signal strength x 0.7) x (2^ (Antenna Gain - Loss in Cable) / 6))
4. Have no idea, but judging by their current range approx R800
