Gauteng e-Panic Button launched

The Gauteng provincial government has launched an e-Panic Button as part of a broader strategy to fight crime.

The e-Panic Button will allow users to instantly alert emergency services and law enforcement at the touch of a button, ensuring quick response in times of distress.

This a great initiative to help criminals to initiate fake emergencies diverting already stretched resources away from the area where they are commiting a crime.
Bold of you to assume they actually have resources ready to assist.

Groundhog day?

“Remarkably, the launch was smooth, free from teething issues, owing to the robust software-as-a-service model utilised.”
The reviewers noted various issues with the app, including it failing to send an OTP, black screens, and general difficulty using the app.
“I downloaded the app, pressed one icon and got a blank screen. I hope there was a better app out there,” one reviewer wrote.
Another user said they had requested help through the app it never arrived.

Remarkably smooth

It will probably be along the lines of Trevor Noah's take on South African emergency calls.
