Gauteng has a plan to replace e-tolls

“(The models) show that we can generate more money, outperform the current e-tolls financial targets, and protect the public purse.

The only way e-Tolls, in any form or manner, can generate more money is by charging the user more. That being said, national government is not interested in anything else. This is a corruption cash cow and they will not be making any changes to it.

It almost feels as if the ANC is happy to simply sow confusion on the matter, by both supporting this, as well as fighting it. In this way, they cannot be blamed for the epic failure that e-tolls have become, and they won't lose votes over it. Every time elections come round, they voice their disapproval, and then it dies down after.

This was a heroic failure. People perhaps had good intentions, but what a dismal performance it turned out to be.

Bullshit. It was designed to benefit the connected corrupt from the start. The reason they refused to add 10c or what to the fuel price in Gauteng was because that channel gave no opportunity for skimming off the top.

So many had excellent suggestions that would have made this a success and us buy into it, but was rejected because the outcome had been decided long before in secret chambers with brown paper bags.

Faak e-tolls and faak government, we the Gauteng people have rejected your pisscup scheme, and no matter how hard you apply those corrupt little minds we will not be moved we will keep rejecting it.

The Sanral best kept secret is the ANC shareholding in etolling.
Which is why etolling will not die.

It surely can't be that difficult to make more money than a scheme that see's something like 70% of revenue exported? What is the official figure for the amount of money eTolls recovers that isn't actually used for eTolls or roads, etc?
