Gauteng has big plans for its R2-million panic button app

The Gauteng Provincial Government's (GPG) panic button trial app cost R2 million to build and can accommodate up to 14,000 users.

However, it isn't zero-rated yet, meaning users will require a positive data balance and sufficient coverage to get help from responders in an emergency.

Only 14000 users, I mean that's like what Alex?

completely failed at the gsm emergency number

completely failed at the 10111 emergency number

now a magic button is going to make all the difference!

eventually they will destroy the wheel and try reinvent it, which will fail.

Is it just me? But does it really cost 2mil for an app that accommodates 14k users? Or is the cost for like marketing and stuff?

Alexandria has at least 10x that number, maybe even 20x.

So, Panyaza Lootfreely is providing a panic button to 1 in 10 adults in one township.

They have a good story to tell.

It's a Bullsh¡t story, but it's damn good....

surely there is not anyone stupid enough not to realize this was a cadre's tenderpreneur? I mean what a useless piece of rubbish.

They literally invented what other countries had in place via telephone since the 70s...

So, let me tell you what will happen, trust me.

Criminals will go to one end of, say, Diepsloot, with 30 Panyaza Panic Buttons.

They press them randomly.

Security and SAPS will rush to the area.

The Criminals will rob a shopping center on the other side of the township knowing there'll be no response.

I guarantee this.
