:) While my dad was in the car they called him to say he left his jacket in the train(that also had his ID in it).

+1 to the security guards
 
they really are excellent - a work colleague left his wallet + R1k and all his cards on the platform on wed/thurs - they called him and asked him to verify the amount in the wallet as a means of confirmation and they kept it until he could collect it when he returned home in the afternoon.

Glad to hear there are some honest people working there.
One issue though, i never have any clue how much money is in my wallet at any given point (other than "very little")

Just describe what it looks like and what cards you have in it I guess.

You can tell them some of the cards in the wallet, your name and initials as the appear on the cards, if you have a medical aid card in there or your drivers license you can give them the membership number or ID number.
