Gautrain and Gaubus

Hi guys,

Who here uses the Gautrain and Gaubus to get to work and back?

I'm thinking of using it 2-3 days per week. One day per week I can work from home, and some days I will require my car.

The route I would have to take would be bus from Sandton to Sandton station (via William Nicol), and then train from Sandton station to Rosebank station. From there, I would probably have to take an Uber to work, but it would be a short trip.

The reason I'm thinking of doing it is that lately I'm thinking perhaps I don't want to be driving every day. If I drive, it takes me 40-45 minutes, and that is 40-45 minutes that I spend unable to do anything else but drive. I can't work or read or play games or do anything.

If I take public transport, it will take me longer, probably around an hour. But, that hour each way would be more "productive" for me.

I take it daily. I do fourways to sandton station by bus, then train to Midrand. I'm not sure you'll save any time to be honest, between switching vehicles, waiting etc.

How long does it take you on average?

It isn't that I'm looking to save time, its that I would like the ability to do other stuff while commuting. Like reading or whatever.

EDIT: How do you get from Midrand station to your work?

I leave home at 6, get to the fourways stop on William Nicol at about 6:20. Then for for 1-15 minutes for a bus. Get to sandton station at about 7. Train to midrand is 10 minutes. Then wait for the bus to leave. Then bus from midrand station to my office park is another 25 minutes about. Hey yo work around 8.

So a 2 hour trip? Holy cow!

Would probably end up being the same for me by the time everything is considered.

if only there was a single service that just went straight past my house all the way to work and was not as expensive as uber.
